Reklanica Valley/Val Raccolana and its waterfalls

Reklanica Valley is a fairly hidden gem in the Western Julians, which borders Dunja Valley to the north, Resia to the south, transitions via Neveja Saddle to Rabelj Valley to the east, and to Železna to the west. Above Reklanica Valley rise high mountains, Kanin on one side, on the other the Montaz group with Strma peč, which really strongly attracted our eyes. From under these mountains streams rush into the valley which in many places hang over in waterfalls into its bottom. While exploring the valley, besides waterfalls and mountains you can admire old villages and nature in general. Well, now is not exactly the right time for visiting waterfalls, because there's not much water there, and also no sun in the valley at this time, but it seemed to us we couldn't wait any longer and we combined it with admiring autumn naturenasmeh.

To get to Reklanica, we chose quite a long loop, namely we drove over Vršič to Trenta, then over Kljuž through villages Log and Strmec to Predel, descent into the valley past Rabelj Lake, which at this time charmingly rests in silence, then up to Nevejski Pass and we were already on the way to Reklanica or Val Raccolana in Italian.

We got the idea for visiting these waterfalls from one last year's PV issue, where the article talks about thirteen waterfalls in Reklanica, we viewed only five, but to the others definitely still in the future.

Well, for now we visited the following: (from top to bottom)
- Cascata del Cjalderon (originates under Gilberti hut)
- Fontanone di Goriuda - Gorjuda (most known)
- Cascate Rio Montasio (originates under Montaž) and lies between villages Piani di Qua and Piani di La (here and there)
- Cascata Rio Vandul (rushes from under Peklenskih vrat oz. Zabuš) - the wildest of the listed and not marked
- Cascata Rio Repepeit

Yes, this is worth a visit!
We missed in between the waterfalls Cascate Rio di Plis, Cascate Rio Chiout (near the village Chiout Cali), the author also added to the list Cascata Cadramazzo (under Cuel de la Barete).
But there is apparently a longer list, also near Kluže namely Cascate Macile, Belepeit, Rio Animis, Rio Simon, Cascata della Regino, Rio Malinberg, Molina.
The municipality of Kluže apparently published this list or booklet of waterfalls in Italian.

In the municipality of Chiusaforte there are considerably more waterfalls than you listed and than they mention on their website. Let's list them. From the direction of Dogna towards Ressuiti in the municipality of Chiusaforte. Right side: Rio Visocco (about 25 waterfalls, highest 35 m), Rio del Mulin (17 waterfalls, highest 62 m), Rio Belepeit (32 waterfalls, highest 75 m), Rio Cuestis- Cascate Rio Animis? (19 waterfalls, highest 80 m), Rio Simon (21 waterfalls, highest 33 m) and Rio Brezzi- Cascata Regina? (12 waterfalls, highest 40 m). Now the left side of the Fella river: Rio Livinal-right tributary Rio Cadramazzo (15 waterfalls, highest 66 m), Rio Fontanis-left tributary Rio Cadramazzo (unknown about 6), Rio Cadramazzo (2 waterfalls, highest 55 m), Rio Bianco-right tributary Rio Patoca (20 waterfalls, highest 63 m), Rio Patoc (8 waterfalls, highest 17 m) and Rio Macile or Rio Brussine (12 waterfalls, highest 60 m). Now let's look at the Reklanica valley. First the right side from the direction Sella Nevea-Chiusaforte: Rio Raccolana-Cascata del Cjalderon (1 waterfall height 5 m), Rio Montasio (3 waterfalls, highest 130 m), Rio Livinal (number of waterfalls unknown), Rio Plitz (21 waterfalls, highest 70 m), Rio Malinberg (10 waterfalls, highest 20 m and Rio Sbrici-Cascata di Chiout Cali? (23 waterfalls, highest 35 m). Now also the left side of Reklanica: Gorjuda- Fontanone di Goriuda (9 waterfalls, highest 60 m), Rio del Lis Cladis-Rio Impresis (19 waterfalls, highest 43 m), Rio del Vento (4 waterfalls, highest 45 m), Rio Repepeit (11 waterfalls, highest 70 m), Rio Rivis (9 waterfalls, highest 40 m) and Rio Costa Stretta (10 waterfalls, highest 35 m). Let someone else calculate how many there are.

Yes, in these places there is really a huge amount of water. Hiking trails around here also cross many streams or gullies.
Wonderful places!
