On 21.7 we're going to Bovec. Can anyone first-hand tell me how the reconstruction of the road over Vršič is?
They say they will close traffic one-way for 1 hour?
Is it worth it from Prekmurje to go over or should I take another route?
Suggestions.

They are repairing the road between the 9th and 10th hairpin (past Koča na gozdu). One-way traffic with traffic lights is arranged. If there's no excessive crowding, you don't wait long. But I'd still go to Bovec over Predel, I think it'll be faster.

In any case via Rateče and Predel, even when the road over Vršič is fixed. More comfortable and faster

We successfully traveled and arrived over Predel without jams. Thank you!
I'm wondering if maybe someone knows, when you come to the Italian side, there where some horror town is .... no one anywhere, just some mines and some embankment, on the right side towards Bovec, what did they do there that it's all abandoned??

Did you maybe mean the town Rabelj with the abandoned lead mine? Well, now it's not so bad anymore and the little town is slowly renovating and reviving. But years ago it really gave chills driving through the settlement; it reminded me of those shots of abandoned towns from old westerns. Involuntarily you stepped on the gas...
