Roblek Hut on Begunjščica

Such a beautiful day as today I didn't want to miss and attacked Roblek.
Start in Draga. First along the sled track, then shortcut to Planina Planinice. I correctly decided to run without poles, as the snow is excellent and doesn't slip at all. Super runnable. On the snow I actually sweat, which is still better than my throat suffering from inhaling cold. Air temperature was only -6 (in Draga a bit less). On Poljska planina I attack even more, as both track and snow are excellent for running.
I arrive at Roblek in 50 minutes, which is a good result for winter conditions. No one has gone to Begunjščica yet. Snow sinks up to my ass. Without poles I can't go anywhere.
View is fantastic, especially to neighboring Stol and Vrtača.
Descent down through such abundance of powder is a real experience. I don't know if there's anything more adrenaline-pumping than such a run through powder. It was super!
Already yesterday on Dobrča I experienced similar and descended 850 m height in 20 minutes.

If the snow sinks through to your ass, the poles don't help at all but are rather in the way. For deep snow snowshoes would be better.

From Roblek to where the path comes from Zeleniška side, if there is any snow you always need to wade and plow well to get to the traverse path. But it is pure pleasure to "pick" from Zelenica over the scree to the top, of course when conditions allow. This year I didn't go, previous years at least once in winter. For runners of course no, even time on such a tour is a waste to watch. Better beautiful views.

They say in winter don't go up the southern slope because the base or slope exposure is just right to sweep you away (incline+rocky base) ideal for avalanche. And danger is moderate (borders 3-4 degree) so... Why lecture you, you know what you do right? Begunjščica already took loads of them, not as innocent as it looks. That's why it says "summer" and "winter" approach. Not for messing around in such conditions. Smart that you didn't go further.

Last year turned back halfway between Roblek and summit. When back at hut I was a bit sorry, but lower part no more for sure, since at least twice roared so that I first thought passenger plane crash...

Had no slightest intention to continue. Went to check conditions. Even if excellent wouldn't continue, no winter gear just essentials for run. So nothing but mobile and spare swiss shirt. Also from this side don't like winter ascent to Begunjščica, tedious always traverse ridge. Much better north side.

Was at the Roblek Race, but only as spectator and equipment carrier. Surprisingly few people, although a pig was roasting at Roblek. Victory surely went to Klemen Triler.

In hopes of full track we head to Roblek with buddy . Already in Draga much less snow than in Kranj so we follow tracks of today's predecessor. Snow all like flour and in forest little of it and also on clearings not plenty (at least fresh). Path well passable, some spots slippery from visitors sliding down. At hut sun still tries to shine through clouds. Return straight down through forest where possible.
