Rudnica - 946 m

On the right side of the Senožeti ski slope, looking towards Lake Bohinj, rises the rocky summit Rudnica, which from Srednja vas doesn't look friendly at all. Very easy access from Stara Fužina and Brod, which we can use for a pleasant summer trip. Or we can choose the third option from Srednja vas. We go from Srednja vas towards Senožeta ski slope and before the ski slope turn right across pastures uphill, where a sign directs us along a poorly trodden path through bushes to a nice pasture. Across the pasture just straight uphill towards the forest. Here the sign directs us along a quite steep path to the top. Faded markers also appear. When the steep part ends we're soon at the top with a pleasant bench, viewpoint to Srednja vas, in the distance we spot Zajamniki pasture. At the top there's a box with stamp and logbook.

Rudnica - 946 m Towards the summit, we come across signposts indicating easier accesses.9

...Bohinj folks in paradise......Path to Peči is well trodden but icy. Further towards Rudnica more snow, so small crampons still come in handy....nasmeh

Yesterday I ascended to Rudnica from Lake Bohinj and then past Peči. Descended on the "path" which no longer exists or I couldn't find it to Studor.

I started with this summit first, for now I'm also the last one currently. Had to do a reconnaissance where tomorrow I'll take my Monday group - middle group of retirees - section PD Škofja Loka. Allowed 400m ascent and two hours one way and that's it. Guides always try to make a circular route if possible. Saw it from village Brod, descent to Stara Fužina, where we also have a visit to Planšar Museum. Parked personal car at small parking right when the road turns to Brod, coming from Bohinjska Bistrica. It's for about six cars. Before wooden bridge there is space, not sure if parking allowed there. In Brod village right at sign for Rudnica - think there's big linden next - parking for five cars. Sign from approach direction to village not visible at all. Then signs direct us to quite steep gravel path straight up - not very friendly access. Then to path junction - left called Čez široko polico, right Direktna. Went right again - knee killer to junction where Ivanova pot comes up, which also goes up from Brod. From here path nice, not too steep. Čez široko polico supposed to be friendlier too. To this junction with Ivanova pot I walked about half hour. In one hour at top of Rudnica. Here bench, summit marker and logbook with stamp. Then wanted to check descent over ridge to path to Stara Fužina, but soon gave up because it's pathless. Returned to top and descended towards Stara Fužina. At clearing wonderful view of Triglav and Lake Bohinj. At clearing right path to Stara Fužina, left back to Brod.

No, wouldn't joke about that.
Around there some thicker sticks between trees, my kids sat on them. Wanted to sit on one myself (in pic crossbar under spruce), something moved eek. Well didn't panic. All calmly looked at it, photographed, didn't let disturb much.

Well yesterday I took my Pondeljkovci - retired group section of the mountaineering club Škofja Loka - to the long-desired Rudnica. In the club we have three retiree groups and this one hikes medium difficult paths. Max 400m ascent and about one and a half hours one way and for this criterion as main guide this goal was just the right choice.

Already on Sunday I did a reconnaissance trip up and assessed that this classic access -marked only with signs - no real Knaflič marks and can't count as marked path. As mentioned this classic access splits into two paths - the so-called Direct and Via Široka polica. I went the Direct and about halfway Ivanova pot joins it, but on the way back I didn't check it. In Bohinjska Bistrica the Bohinj mountains expert - Janez Pikon awaited us and kindly showed us the entry to Ivanova pot in the village, which is not as steep as Direct. It would be nice if the direction of Ivanova pot was marked in the village. The entry to this path is at the top of the village - marked. The path seems quite overgrown and if it wasn't recently mowed it practically can't be seen where it goes to the meadow. On the meadow the path is not noticeable at all. It was mowed. At the end of the meadow we turn left onto abandoned cart track. We follow it until we see the sign for Ivanova pot. Right at the start of this sign I noticed the familiar strongly faded Knaflič marks. The path is nice, well made and joins the Direct. From this junction it goes nicely to the top of Rudnica. From the top of Rudnica we went via path to Stara Fužina. There are signs where to go, but not officially marked with Knaflič marks. Soon from the top at nice Senožeti we must turn right and walk on quite destroyed seemingly little used cart track almost to the valley. In between we pass two more Senožeti - here only hay sheds. In Stara Fužina we spiced up our tour with a visit to Planšarski museum - entrance 3 euros, for groups half euro less. Highly recommend! But I must warn that the road from Lake direction to Stara Fužina is closed due to road construction and you have to reach Stara Fužina from Srednja vas.
Arrived at the starting point - before the village of Brod.1
Our goal Rudnica - from the village Brod its entire ridge is nicely visible.2
Janez Pikon kindly shows us the start of the path.3
Barely noticeable sign for Ivanova pot.4
The path is mown, otherwise it would not be visible at all.5
6
When we emerge from that grass we notice the faded knafeljčeve marks.7
Already on the Direktna pot, which Ivanova has joined. From here Direktna is nice. To here direktna is steep and gravelly.8
With us also grandchildren, isn't that something most beautiful.9
At the summit of Rudnica - box for entries and Rudnica stamp.10
From the top we go to Stara Fužina. Immediately behind the top below is this nice hayfield.11
On this first large hayfield we see the lake and on the right even Triglav.12
This time our fire brigade [image] was taken here, which is not always captured at Ponedeljkovci.13
On this first haymaking this hut even bears the Rudnica label.14
Second haymaking.15
And the third one, probably I overlooked some more.16
We also visited the planšarski museum in Stara Fužina.17
From Planina Zajamniki, if I understood correctly, they transferred the entire shepherd's dwelling to the museum here.18
It shows us how they made cheese on these pastures.19
Milkmaid's attire.20
In the museum we see pictures of how these pastures once looked.21
Beautiful Planina Laz - I have visited all these depicted pastures.22

Going somewhere for the first time means special expectation and also a really special experience on the tour. Jože suggested a circular tour and he was so rightnasmeh.

We parked in the village Brod and while admiring the cliffs climbed to the upper slopes of Rudnica and that meant the summit wasn't particularly far anymore. We returned towards Stara Fužina, where soon from the top we admired the view of the lake and snowy peaks above it. Then we headed to the path along the edge of cliffs (via Široka polica) and reached the second clearing. At the junction we chose direction St.Fužina, but the path from there was very poorly trodden, only some steps went our way. Luckily three hikers came opposite confirming we were on the right path. Of course we also stepped to the excellent viewpoint Peč, where again you take in the view of the lake and all its mountain surroundings that simply pins your gaze on what's seen.

When we reached the edge of St.Fužina, we headed to the bike path that runs for a while along Sava Bohinjka and enjoyed the whole way with views of peaks and cliffs left and right, couldn't resist looks back at the walked. These four km passed really quickly and neither of us complained because of them. Really unique tour, we both agreednasmehnasmeh! I'll repeat it soon myselfnasmeh.

Kafetarca, there at pic.3 there's space for a few cars, didn't feel like anyone would complain. There's apparently also parking a bit further before the bridge right or if coming from Savica village at the end of bridge left. Hardly any hikersnasmeh
