This year the Run to Grintovec, to my great sadness, is not happening. So I prepared it myself. Start at the Dom v Kamniški Bistrici directly on the starting line, which is still visible from last year's race. In the first flat kilometers, hard legs from trainings in recent days can be felt. The too heavy backpack also forces me downhill. Still, I made it to the end in quite a decent time. Uphill towards Cojzova koča I run very variably fast, depending on the terrain. However, mostly it is very awkward for running, especially that upper scree slope. I arrive at Kokrsko sedlo already very exhausted. However, I still continue towards the top of Grintovec. On the flat, I even rest a bit and then attack the steep part. The legs do not want to respond as they should; the Streha drags terribly for me. In the "finish" I am with a time of 1 h 44 min, which was a disappointment because I expected to run better than I did 2 years ago at the race. Not much was missing, however; still, it is not that. But I am convinced that at the real race I would manage to run under an hour and a half. Descent pleasant, slow. Huge crowd on the mountain itself, the weather was also ideal. Then I also walked through the Predaselj gorge. The reward for all running efforts was bathing in Kamniška Bistrica. With the training I am ultimately satisfied. However, I admit: it was harder than I expected. Running to Grintovec really is not child's play, so Grintovec as a race rightfully ranks among the hardest and most extreme mountain runs in Europe. Sadly, its collapse is threatened, so I encourage Miko and Dušan Papež to organize this unique race again next year!
