Ruška Hut on Areh and Maribor Hut

Hello.

On Friday I would do a hike at once to the MARIBOR HUT and RUŠKA HUT ON AREH.

I have never been there. As I see from the map (www.hribi.net) and from the PZS description of the huts, perhaps the best option would be this circular path:

Fram – Planica - Ruška hut (3 h 15 min) - Maribor hut (1h) – Framski waterfall – Plahutnik – Fram

Given the current conditions + if the weather until Friday is as forecasted here (end of snowfall on Wednesday midday)

http://www.hribi.net/vreme_gora/ruska_koca_na_arehu/4/842#Sr

can I expect this circular path to be somewhat trodden? Is this path an OK choice? I'm asking because it's not listed on www.hribi.net.

Thanks for help.

This circular path is mežikanje listed on hribi.net... Pohorje, three or four posts back - beginning of January 2013. With a colleague we chose the original PD Fram path with addition of Sedovec peak, which marks this area somewhere at the summit point. For Framski waterfall the difference is that you have to go down under Mariborska hut on the right variant, if I'm not mistaken and then the path joins Jugova path. The path – but this is a prediction mežikanje – will be trodden, there is some asphalt and forest roads...although from what I've seen Jugova path is much more visited. The path is certainly an excellent choice, sufficiently dynamic, beautiful views, sunny side, two thematically completed mountain paths...I hope there is enough material and wish safe and sturdy step on the Fram part of Pohorje. Regards Bruno/bruny
Fram - excellent starting point... for higher on Pohorje.1

bruny,

thanks for this detailed information. But I'll wait with this hike after Easter holidays. On Friday there will most likely be rain, which for this multi-hour hike I think might be quite in the way.

and is this path Fram – Planica - Ruška koča really about 3 h 15 min? with normal walking and total about 1h breaks in Ruška and Mariborska hut, how much does it all add up if I go as I mentioned?

Is parking in Fram problematic on Saturdays or Sundays? During the week probably not?

We together spent 5 hours and 40 minutes on the path with stops. To Ruška hut 2 hours and 30 minutes, between Ruška and Maribor hut a bit less than one hour and also found and did a short ascent to the 1231 meters high Sedovec, which in my humble opinion marks the world of Fram Pohorje. Descent from Maribor hut to the valley in 1 hour and 45 minutes. The route via Fram waterfall point will be very similar - so approx. 28 kilometers and 1000 elevation meters.

Parking in Fram is not problematic...even on Saturdays and Sundays. Really excellent combination of two local Pohorje paths from Fram and between them the connection of the "leading" all mountain paths - Slovenian Mountain Trail in the first kilometers between Maribor and Ruška hut (in reverse direction)...and also Fram waterfall or Sedovec as addition.

Perhaps the portal administrator transfers these records to the open Pohorje topic, of course it's his decision. Regards

This morning to Pohorje for stampsvelik nasmeh (they are and are not important – as one likes) from the start of the Slovenian mountain trail. From Planika home, then to Mariborska hut and further to Ruška hut. Weather cloudy, occasionally drizzling, so views were rather poor. Pity. But it smelled strongly of mushroomsmežikanje. Path easy, pleasant and nicely marked, suitable for every hiker. The huts are also pleasant, the Mariborska one even with rich history. On return I also saw Framski waterfall, i.e. Skalca waterfallnasmeh

Today (14.11.2015), after almost two years again at Mariborska hut.
Ascent from Rečnik through Kapla, Planinka home and Petkovo sedlo to the hut. Here short refreshment and quickly back, this time but on the path by Hočka hut and Viharnik farm. Nice thing, pity there was no more time because mushroom soup in Mariborska is always exceptional.
With me was also friend Krešo.

Today's sunny and for February very warm Saturday we spent on Pohorje. Start in Radvanj, in front of Tuš supermarket and then from the start of SPP to Mariborska hut. For ascent we chose the southern path, which is marked but we still got lost twice. In front of Mariborska hut event at the start of hike of blind and visually impaired on SPP. Then further to Ruška hut. We returned past Bellevue hotel and then along the ski slope to Habakuk and another 3 km to the car. So we closed the circle that we started at sunrise and finished in the dark, when full moon was already on the clear sky. Also on the way back we searched the right path several times, we were there first time. Ski slope is operating nasmeh
At the start of SPP. The sun is just rising. The stamp is on the post.1
Nice signs on the southern path. Unfortunately markings are missing at some key points.2

Wonderful ambience near Ruška koča.4
They have such sights too!5
View of the city from the edge of the scree - stunningly beautiful!6
The circle is closed. Left of the post is a street lamp, right a full moon.7

Hello,

@KarmenT and others who will go on the southern path to MB hut. PD Matica Maribor has newly marked the southern path and you are cordially invited to walk it and evaluate our work. I think now you won't get lost, but if you do please write to us and we will add some additional marking nasmeh

Regards, Nino from under Pohorje/Kozjak

Some impressions from yesterday's trip Log - Pečke - Ledinekov kogel - Maribor lookout - sv. Bolfenk - Maribor hut - Maribor lookout - Pečke - Meranovo - Log.
The path walked is normally passable.
The lookout tower is still closed.

Maribor Hut. Nice photo that my predecessor posted, of course not everything is really that nice.
We know Pohorje quite well, just haven't set off to the Maribor part yet. Well, the plan came, we went today. Start in Bistrica ob Dravi, to Pečka hut, then to the mark Pri bukvi, further to Maribor Hut.
I expected everything above ... what you usually expect at huts, especially the Maribor connotation, it should be ah and oh ...smile
Pure sorrow, Kreslin would sing, already the hut surroundings, on the terrace itself not even cleared snow, when you step into the hut smell of pure mold, as for prices abnormal, for 2 dl refoška we paid 4 euros, next to us they drank 3 radlers - 10.5 euros, those are sky-high prices for such a hut.
I know the caretaker maybe isn't at fault, probably has expensive rent and wants to earn with high prices, but that's not it. What does Mariborsko planinsko društvo Matica think, just high rents to cash something in, the rest doesn't concern them. Shameful and shameful again.
What I wrote is as it is. Despite that I found my peace and quiet in the forest, since on this path there were no people, well except some cyclists riding towards Bistrica. To this end I won't go anymore.
LP!
