Yesterday we went to explore the Šaleška lakes, whose formation is connected with ground subsidence due to lignite mining. They include three larger lakes, namely Družmirsko (Šoštanjsko) lake, Velenjsko lake and Škalsko lake. The first is the deepest in Slovenia, the second the largest. We circled all the lakes as close to the shore as possible, so sometimes we had to go off the marked path. This was especially true for Družmirsko lake, where we even had to take off our shoes because it was a bit too wide to jump over (Velunja stream). These lakes are suitable for various types of recreation, such as cycling and walking, and in summer also for swimming, which applies most to Velenjsko lake, where there is also an official bathing beach. It was really pleasant to sit on that beach and admire the full expanse of the open view offered there. Together we walked around all three lakes about 15 km.

Next time suggest visit to hill seen on pics no. 14, 31, 35, 36, maybe more.. With your experience name of hill and location won't be hard to find For help - ice storm 2014 "cleared" part of hill to such extent it turned into nice viewpoint.

Špik Paškega Kozjaka is nicely visible, but it's not that one. It's fairly close to lakes you visited.

@djimuzl: the peak you mention is called Vodemlja. The viewpoint however is from March 2017, when a forest fire raged on it.

robi, I remember why the fire broke out under Vodemlja, but I didn't know that this mentioned damage is its consequence - I concluded it was due to ice storm effects, since it was pretty bad then too.. If we can find something good in every evil, then here it's a nice view...
