Since some higher peaks are safety 'controversial' in current conditions, Dušan and I, after Friday's Jermanova vrata, are heading only about 100m higher. Since nothing pays off here, the road was plowed only to Dom planincev, before the little bridge there is a chain across the road with a padlock. Despite the long flat walk, I warmed my fingers only above the waterfall. The path to Okrešelj is barely trodden, but the snow is mostly hard; I recommend crampons for the less experienced. Above the new build, conditions are now completely different. No old tracks towards the saddle were noticeable, so two skiers were breaking trail half an hour higher, followed by Dušan with snowshoes, and me last with 44 Alpina 'Poking', most often up to my knees, accompanied me all the way to the saddle. I had the feeling that with 10 kg less weight I would mostly have walked on the track. On the whole tour there was a slightly delicate spot Prag, not because of avalanche danger, but because of the slope and thin snow cover (ca. 40cm) on a completely smooth base. With the use of ice axe and crampons, crossing that short section is a small joke. When already mentioning danger, it is important to highlight the path section between the upper and lower part of the waterfall - huge icicles have appeared by the rocks above the path, diameter even half a meter or more, which will crash right over the path upon thawing. One has already broken off, the larger (60kg) part stopped among the trees, the smaller ones flew like cannon projectiles towards the bottom. On the sunlit south slopes of Mrzla gora, avalanches started appearing in the gullies already during the ascent, rushing into the valley with all their majesty. Understandably, our track ran everywhere at a safe distance. The north side, which the sun didn't even graze, of course remained untouched all day. A few more pictures, despite numb fingers at the saddle.
