Today I went up to Šavnice (Menina)
I started from Rovt past the Bočnica spring towards Menina and up, at the junction left to Šavnice.

Yesterday on Sunday 9.3. I headed to Menina planina more precisely to Šavnice or Goli vrh. I started at Lipa pass. Weather was fantastic only on top a bit windy. Path like this, some branches on the way otherwise no problem to get up. Snow still plenty it was sinking for me velik nasmeh

but it goes.

Thanks @Brane, exactly @otiv that's Sv.Jošt on Dobroveljska plateau above Vransko. More and more I look at those descriptions in the book and map, I'm getting closer to going on a trip to that plateau some spring day.

@pohodnik38 just go around Dobrovlje, spring time is most suitable. I've walked the path from Letuš to Sv. Jošt several times and it was always nice, just some fitness is needed, which doesn't worry me about you. nasmeh

And Menina is nice to cross from Črnivec to Vransko, just need to organize transfers a bit.

We like surprises and today's Menina was a surprise in the form of blooming spring. Although snow hasn't left yet, someone might already go in low shoes. We didn't expect it to be so nice. nasmeh

We started at the hunting hut below Smolnik and climbed via Slopi to Biba planina, where a good snack followed and martini for my dear, I of course to Šavnice to check snow depth. On the way to Šavnice mostly snow patches, larger or smaller and when crossing it sinks well, as at 12 it did. Not up to knees, velik nasmeh

so no one despairs and stays home. Snow visibly melting, so full of streams and pools. We also exercised a bit over logs, as ice damage here too. We picked first wild garlic and of course dandelion for salad. Useful with pleasant is our motto and probably someone else's. nasmeh

Probably there will also be a lot of snow here, we thought still down below

Menina is really a true flowering paradise

Keep going while there is still some snow

Snow patches, some larger, others smaller.

So they are not only white, also some painted ones.

We barely managed to set this signpost upright.

Some photos from the trip from Biba planina to Šavnice. On Sunday there were quite a few visitors at Menina planina, because there was a celebration at Biba planina.

Nice, Tadej. Our two sons were also gaining their first real mountain experiences at Menina planina. The wide meadows where the paths lead are ideal for walking with children, as there are no steep slopes. In summer there is of course also livestock, which is interesting for children. Of course we drove the car a bit higher, walking from the valley would be too strenuous for them.

The road to Biba planina is drivable to the last big bend, where there is currently a larger pile of snow, so it extends the walk to Šavnice by about 15min.

Unless you go to Bibo and take the shortcut at Nova Poljana on the narrower track, where there are quite a few fallen trees at the beginning, but it's doable. 45min to the top.

Snow on the ridge is 0-30cm, depending on how much is blown away where.

Šavnice in the snow are always a good choice, and so it was today too.
Our path led from the Lipa pass past Jeseničnik, over Žlajfe to Slope, and steeply up to Šavnice. From the windy summit we descended over Lemonska poljana to Biba, from where in beautiful weather we slowly descended back towards Lipa. From Slop we chose the northern path to the car. Walked bp. Nice winter greeting!
