Let me humbly add that there is a hiking map of this area (actually the area of Istria, Brkini, Čičarija and partly Karst), published by PZS in 2011. On this map named "Slovenska Istra,Čičarija,Brkini,Kras" at a scale of 1:50,000 there is also part of Croatian territory and all marked hiking trails (walked with GPS) are fully drawn in (also in the Croatian part). It's on sale in almost all bookstores and costs 8 EUR... Enjoy hiking in the beautiful Istrian landscape...

@B2,
it's true what you write. The problem is that the map is at scale 1:50.000 and as such completely unsuitable for adventurous-exploratory off-trail activities nasmeh (walking off marked trails, walking on abandoned shepherd, hunting etc. paths, searching passages in thickets, searching gullies, stream beds, . . . )

Such maps that would satisfy the wishes of adventurers you mention do not exist and won't!
For walking on paths where Maja O walked, it's more than suitable - even excellent! All paths (marked or not) are drawn and so this map fully meets all criteria... Have a nice day!

Cheers, there is also the Primorska map (Coast, Karst and Trieste region), published by Kartografija at scale 1:40.000. Last year it proved very useful...sometimes it's nice to be a bit lost too mežikanje

@B2
I was with MajaO, we had that map!!!
And it's lousy, map 1:50000! jezen

It should be 1:25000, like for example Trenta, Krn, Bohinj, Kr. Gora with surroundings and similar. There everything is drawn and with experience and map reading knowledge you can find a lot mežikanje And reach many places nasmeh

The map that Maja mentions, scale 1:25.000, is ok, but not equivalent or made for the same purposes as hiking specials.

For me personally, maps at scale 1:50.000 sufficed for general orientation. We used specials at 1:25.000 only on orienteering hikes/competitions where we had to find control points.

You can still buy the state topographic map at 1:25.000 mežikanje

The problem is in the starting point or purpose. Whether you go for a trip with the aim of walking marked paths or to explore bushes, thorns, dry gullies, etc. (some serious some joking). In the first case 1:50000 suffices to orient nicely in the surroundings. To know which village is which, colloquially zavijanje z očmi If you're the type ready to crawl too, if I may say so, then you need something more concrete, that's 1:25000.
The point isn't that you could get lost there. It's more about avoiding "more visited" paths as much as possible and "bushwhacking" your own way. Anyway we succeeded, despite such or other maps mežikanje It was long, very long. And really nice nasmeh

MajaO, on the City Municipality of Koper website under Tourism on the right side there are thematic paths with descriptions and maps, maybe you'll find something there for next time. Click on the picture of 15 selected thematic paths and walking paths, cycling ones will open... Just to help nasmeh

The Šavrin Hills Gita described so nicely on her blog at the beginning of this year that the idea immediately went on the list of desired trips, and yesterday we made the first checkmark, but we haven't said the last word for this world by farnasmeh.
We started in Dragonja, but since the path is circular, it doesn't matter where you actually start. The path also goes through villages Sv. Peter, where you must not miss Tonina's house, then to Nova vas and through Krkavče, where you must go to the somewhat off-path house Vrešje. From there we descended to Dragonja valley, at the starting point we also headed to the overhangs above Dragonja, named Stena.
Yes, you have to make an effort to reach it, as you push through quite overgrown terrain where thorns try to stop you too. But it was worth it, really interesting trip end!

09.11.2023 my colleague and I did a reconnaissance of Šavrin Hills. We drove to Nova vas. From Nova vas we went on the marked path to Krkavče village. We found out there is plenty of water everywhere. We walked past numerous exemplarily maintained olive groves. From Krkavče we went to Sv. Peter village. There was a bit of mud in between, but we overcame it successfully. In Sv. Peter village there is an interesting thing - like some water device called lokva. Back along the road to Nova vas. More another time. Will need to go to these beautiful Istrian areas again.

We stumble upon an interesting cardy vegetable bed that we actually don't know.4
On the path - here the little path is very beautiful.5
But it soon becomes quite damaged and increasingly so meter by meter.6
Water - these water basins are very interesting.7
You can't get lost - it is marked.8

21.11.2023 my colleague and I took DU Medvode on this beautiful trail through Šavrin Hills and made some extra detours. We also visited Krkavški kamen and Tonina hiša - costs three euros per person for viewing. House caretaker showed us the house for a whole hour and gave really extensive explanation of displayed exhibits. House has lower and upper part. Upper has living spaces - worth seeing - recommend.
Krkavški kamen - also named Troglav stone - stands 400 m southwest of Krkavško cemetery.1

This time I went to the cemetery to ring for luck.3
