Yesterday, 14.10.2007, we set out from the village Sele/Zell-Pfarre, which is located more than 10 km above Borovlje/Ferlach, to the panoramic peak Setiče/Freiberg. The foggy morning in the lowlands was soon replaced by a nice sunny day with a view of the sea of low clouds. The view from the top was wonderful from the nearby Košuta, which we saw from the north side, to the Julian Alps, where Krn, Triglav and Škrlatica were nicely visible. To the west we saw the Carnic Alps and a bit more to the north Veliki Klek/Grossglockner. To the east Obir, Peca and a bit to the south Kamnik and Savinja Alps. Regards, Esther, Robi and Tadej

Climbed in October. Larches in wonderful colors, great views. Crows and sheep above the village kept me company. Lp!

Today with the family to this wonderful viewpoint. Didn't show all it can  , many peaks cloud-covered, but still nice. Few visitors, no Slovenian plates at parking, but heard some "dober dan". No wonder, these places "practically Slovenian". Easy path, nothing exposed, almost 1000 m needs a bit of fitness, very good for family trip. Nicer in a month with yellow larches...

Was up on Saturday. No snow, but quite windy. Interesting was the view of the north face and ridge of Košuta, where scary weather was constantly brewing.

Today we choose Setiče
The path starts in the village Sele-Cerkva; across the meadow the path is still gentle, then quickly gains height. Around the summit it was foggy, so no views; otherwise for me it's a familiar area. On descent I count 15 hikers; also otherwise from tracks on the path you see that the peak is often visited.

It's been over a year since the last post, so a few words about yesterday's tour. Meadows above the village are (were?) unmown, so lots of flowers and wonderful. Path from valley to summit without features, very suitable for sunny days, as high below summit it goes through forest, where you avoid the sun, unfortunately not the stuffiness. At Užnikov cross benches for rest, same at the hut a bit higher. Views from summit encompass Karavanke, Kamnik Savinja and Julian Alps, if weather allows. Since we were early, we were up there alone for long, met some more hikers only on the way back, already near Sele Church.
If returning through Borovlje, recommend detour to Ressnig lake, where refreshment is very welcome. More about this lake I wrote yesterday in Karavanke forum.

Just the above pictures convinced us that it's worth climbing this peak. But that it would be so beautiful, so joyful, I didn't imagine. The path was already beautiful, the higher it got, the more beautiful it became. The summit itself was something extraordinary. Autumn colors of larches, bushy grasses and dance of mists created magic that hardly let you breathe.
We were lucky, as we entered this wonderful world first, later some hikers gathered.
After the tour we followed turbo's advice to visit Reßnig lake, which lies near Borovlje. We walked along its shore and enjoyed the views of the surroundings.
So two birds with one stone, as they say. Wonderful trip, with wonderful ending ! Worth repeating.

On Saturday we enjoyed the sun on Setiče and at the same time treated ourselves to a double loop: along the east ridge to Kriva peč and descent through Vabučnikov graben. More you can read here.
