Šite and shelter below Špiček

trinity, sure, it's no sin to ask, but for the stamp of the shelter below Špiček you can't expect it waiting at the door but safely inside, haven't seen anywhere that they leave it out when the hut or shelter is closed, so the question was a bit out of place, especially since you say you have mileage behind you, so I'd expect you'd know at least where stamps are stored or placed if not stolen, which happens often, hence the answer that most get them in Zagreb. Such info circulates among those who placed stamps sometime.

Given that it's a non-STP shelter that's locked and the key is obtained from the caretaker in Martuljek, I expected it to be built-in somewhere outside. If we already have some mileage, it doesn't mean we've done all summits in Slovenia. I think the forum is meant for such discussions (if you don't know... ask), so to me this question doesn't seem stupid. No need to attack everyone who asks for any, even the most banal information (such things that are everyday to you, Igor). Thanks anyway for the info on where the stamp is located. LP Trinity

Apparently now at the Shelter under Špiček there is a new winter room offering emergency shelter. Before, one couldn't sleep in that den full of junk and waste for the hut.

The shelter below Špiček is not a bivouac but a staffed hut during the summer season managed by PD Jesenice. At the back it has a few beds arranged under the roof (I think 4, no luxury there). Never and really never has the key been available anywhere. For many years I visited the legend Franceljn from Jalovec there, then Pavel and now Nada and Angelca, please don't spread things that aren't true. Otherwise everyone can check the hut list here: http://www.pzs.si/index.php?stran=Seznam%20koč

In Rutah you get only the key to the bivouac below Špik 1423m, which is completely something else than the pl.hut at Zav. Pod Špičkom. This one next to Pogačnikov dom is to me the friendliest regarding food and location of course. It now has a new winter room in the house part of the building, as Igor already described in detail.

Whatever, the fact is I ate here the faaaar best strudel, huge piece freshly baked, direct from the oven. Divine. Besides beautiful nature, views, it's also worth the effort for this. I hope the same caretakers are still up there...???

Usually flowers don't attract me particularly, but the flower on the first picture is ... I'm speechless. Probably the beauty has some name, as it's extraordinary.

@milesdavis: the flower that attracts you so much is round-headed rampion - my favorite

Thanks Irska, lat. Phyteuma orbiculare eng. Round-headed Rampion glavičasti derives from orbiculare - round repuš might be a derivative from Rampion - rampion A true amateur botanist is hiding in me, I didn't know. (little Bleiweiss) Sorry for the digression, just kidding.

Nice and very varied path. It can easily be hiked in an hour less than marked. Hiked yesterday.

On Vršič there's a sign saying 5 hours to the shelter. Two years ago I talked to the caretaker under Špička (when I hiked this trail), that it's wrongly marked and the time for this trail is 4 hours.

Correct, on your picture signpost shows 4 hours. On mine from two years ago (22 August 2010) it's different.

I can confirm too that a more realistic marking would be around 3 hours.

We also needed 3 hours of moderate hiking to the shelter.
