Yesterday, the right bank above the Igle gorge tempted me.
I parked at Igle and headed along the road to the climbing area entrance. Right at the trail entrance, the forest scent caressed me, that's why I come here. I moved left and inspected the climbing routes equipped by Dejan, very nice, gotta come climb some!
At the end of the climbing area, a rock step blocked me. Roughly climbable in the middle, so I went for it. After demanding climbing, I stepped onto the ridge edge. No way left, right steep grass and really exposed ridge adorned with deep precipice. Could climb across, but since I couldn't see ahead what awaited, I cautiously descended back towards the climbing area. The descent was brutal!
From the climbing area I now headed right and as soon as I spotted an option to ascend on the left, I seized the chance. Up steep scree to the col where climbable ridge I right up and tricky descent left down awaits. First I try the ridge, about twenty meters. It got harder and soon a drop, turned back. Descended to col. Now a bit sweaty, eyeing the left steep slope imagining what's there. Dropped to west side and tackled the steepness. Shadow-hidden world, frozen and unfriendly. Spotted cave right above, climbed to it, no further. A bit down, traversed left, craving sun. It draws me left to brambly edge steeply rising over forest. Right rock barrier, ahead rock jump, curiosity pulls over it. Enjoying and hoping it works! Above jump right to easier ridge and slightly exposed passages to summit. Topped out just below Skakalojca peak. What peace, what scents!
No time wasted! Continued south ridge towards pl. Arta, wanting to hit marked trail from Rogovilca. Ridge dragged a bit, no matter, it was nice! Some up-down climbing, paused midway and finally breathed, great spots!
At big rock with Rogovilec sign, joined marked trail, wind eased. Sat down for snack, nearly dozed in sun. Slowly descended to Račnik enjoying. Thrilled by trail and ambience, first time here, best since hiking hills!
At Račnik dog joined, together down valley. Chatted a bit, he dashes for birds in woods back and forth to me! Twice told him to go home, but puzzled look and dashes to play! Real character! Only below, hopping Savinja, we parted. Promised dog sausage next time. Safe!
