PD Velenje organized a beginner's course today (INTRODUCTION TO SECURED CLIMBING PATHS). The course took place above Slovenske Konjice – SKALA 750m
The course was led by Mijot / Milan - experts for ferratas (and also for other "mountain wanderings").
The weather served them well and the morning cloudiness turned into a nice and fairly sunny forenoon. The course participants got to know the history of secured climbing paths, equipment, dangers, belaying and everything important for visiting these paths. After the introductory part, the practical part in the rock followed. After a successful ascent, a descent followed and an obstacle on the path (intentional), caused by Milan. The course participants coped each in their own way and all successfully overcame the "obstacle" on the path.
At the end of the course, a surprise followed – rope descent (ABSEIL). For many, a little fear at the start, which turned into enjoyment.

When you look back from Konjice towards the forested hills in the surroundings, you don't expect that somewhere up there stands a rock with (sadly) short but very interesting demanding part. Just enough time allowed us to go see this Skala and we were quite satisfied. Steepness, demanding path, return along a comfortable trail, real tour, just in reduced and shorter form. And a family picnic on top. If you're there, go see it. Climbing part praiseworthily nicely secured and equipped, also marked. And Konjice is a really nice place, it seems something is happening.
