From PD Škofja Loka with a group of retirees called Četrkovci on new hikes.

This is already the second hike this year. We started in the center of Vipava. We headed towards the ruins of the prominent Stari grad above Vipava and viewed them. The ascent to the very ruins is quite demanding -gravelly. At the end even the wire rope helps. Then we headed to the marked path to Škavnica. The path is nicely laid out. In the upper part it is a bit steeper, but nothing more demanding. Suddenly we find ourselves in front of the beautiful Teodozij bivouac. The summit of Škavnica is a few steps higher. There is a box with the logbook, but no stamp. Next to it is a cross and there is also a pole prepared for the flag. Then the path down past Plazu to the valley followed.

Velkavrh, hello! I read your post with interest and was surprised that the ascent to our old castle was quite demanding for you. Then I saw that you went along the right path, which is steep and really not pleasant at all. If you had gone straight where you turned right, you would have taken an extremely beautiful path newly gravelled last year and arrived at the old castle through the proper entrance and not via the wire. Too bad. I hope you still enjoyed the wonderful sunny Thursday. If on Škavnica you had gone just a couple more minutes through the forest (it's marked) you would have reached yet another extremely beautiful viewpoint from which you can see practically the whole valley and even the sea nearby. At the opportunity I'll photograph it for you and attach the pictures. Best regards
