Škofič

I traversed the entire ridge from Leskovec to Vrh nad Peski except the part between Škofič and the notch below it towards Mali Peski. There I tried going down a bit, but gave up then because it exceeded my abilities. Uphill it might go, but still waiting; if someone else did it but didn't post, I don't know.

Sunday's Škofič on 4.11. was well visited. The day was nice. Some wind, snow melted because of high temperatures for this time. The day just long enough to visit this panoramic peak. Last time it was in clouds and I turned back, this time it didn't hide at all.

Already full parking lot in the morning.

At the junction for Rdeči rob and Škofič.

Only the Bohinj mountains had a white blanket in the valley.

especially when you're here for the first time.

Only the dry flowers remained in the grass.

On Sunday (16.6.19) I went to check out the tour Planina Kuhinja - Veliki Stador - Rdeči Rob - Škofič (and back). Bullseye! Beautiful sunny day, views far around and the path just to my taste. Despite full parking lot I didn't meet anyone all day except marmots and sheep (did they all go to Krn?).

For all three peaks I needed about 4h uphill on the longer path (around Rdeči Rob - much easier and nicer than direct to Škofič) including breaks in the shade, snack, photographing or just admiring nature, since I really wasn't in a hurry. An average hiker can count on 3h realistically, if someone is in a hurry it would probably go much faster without issues (but why?).

The tour is classified as pathless in some places, but that's not true, as there's a more or less traceable path all the time, the last 100m to Škofič summit is also obvious where to go. Technically simple, just a bit of foot steadiness and concentration needed on descent in a few spots.

This is life, you eat, drink, rest in the shade and happily suffer... (ok, and in the end they slaughter you, but let's leave that. :)

Rdeči rob also has a friendlier face, one just needs to walk around it.

The path to Škofič around Rdečega roba is much more pleasant than the otherwise much faster and shorter options straight up

The only snow patch I met on the whole path deserved a photo. Probably it's gone today.

Natural window on Škofič! I didn't go closer to peek through what can be seen, lest I slip somewhere on scree...

A little below the top of Škofiča. A bit of focus is needed, especially downhill, nothing worse. If sheep made it up, I will too, I think, and in a few minutes I'm at the summit.

View back on the walked path. Below Rdečim robom the path going around it is visible.

And also a view forward... I'll return, it's beautiful.

If someone wants to go via shortcut directly to the ridge of Škofiča it is possible too, just a bit steep and probably somewhat unpleasant especially downhill. But possible.

I'll post here to revive the thread a bit. On Saturday in these parts. Start Planina Kuhinja, first goal Škofič, continuation past the lake in Lužnica towards Srednji vrh, Batognica and Krn. Exceptional day, path without peculiarities. Interesting that this year again the path took me to these areas, just on the memorial hike. Last year on memorial hike to Veliki Baba. Next year Lemež and some Peski that I'm missing zmeden
