Skozno and Kopitnik

On Saturday I climbed from Ozeljan to the Skozno window and cave, from there continued towards Kopitnik. Descended via Vitovski hrib back to Ozeljan.
The path is normally passable, section from Skozno to Kopitnik occasionally harder to follow.

Yesterday's afternoon trip to Skozno. We were constantly accompanied by moderate bora and occasionally some snowflake.

From Loka along a nice path to the Skozno window. The path is traceable. Quite a few new signs were visible. Also further to Kopitnik the path is visible. New markings are . We continued to the village Trpinovšče. Descended past Lijak, where paragliders train and along the circular path to the starting point.

Nice little path all the way to the window.

Darinka there are no vines there and therefore they don't make tropinovec, the real name of the settlement (weekend houses) is Trpinovšče nasmeh

On this path I rarely go. Today the weather was just right to check if they closed the window - Skozno. But they didn't. There was a draft through it. That's why the paragliders had their fun above Lijak. nasmeh

But all those strings had to be unwound before.

Path to Kopitnik from Rimske Toplice past Lurd church, past Kopun to path junction - right to Gore (sveti Jurij), left to Dom na Kopitniku.

To Kopitnik: Hrastnik, Dol, Marno, Turje at road junction - right to Dom Gore, left to Dom na Kopitniku.
Access to both huts by car possible, also from Rimske Toplice.

I've never seen a raven like that live. It just flew from the nest and raged, probably at us when we were under the window. He could have arranged the nest a bit nicer. Thanks for the enlightenment. nasmeh

We've covered much in these parts already, but always something new. This time hill Sv. Danijela, Lijak take-off, mainly natural sight Skozno. Name says go through velik nasmeh

. Similar to Otliško window, heights similar, maybe less known due longer approach. We did longer route, shorter ones exist.

Started by main road near Ajševica towards Loke. Signpost turned us left, later right to Sv. Danijel. Hill not panoramic, pleasant addition. Descent to lower track, ascent to Lijak. Continued to main goal Skozno. Next Vitovska church, turnaround. Back via Šmihel Lokvica, past vineyards to start. Bit of asphalt end, nice day done nasmeh

We park at the gas station near Ajševice. Fog is again a surprise, at least for us.

We encounter it for the second time in a row, but this time we also walk on it.

Higher up it's better and nice weather is also expected.

We walk through the sleepy Loke. Until the end of the village there will be asphalt, then a change follows.

Just before the church we turn left onto the cart track.

Pure Slovenian … Ultra Trail Vipava Valley

Soon we branch off from the *Ultratrailers*. The goal is the only plotted hill on the entire route.

Special markings accompany us, which are exactly the opposite of the official hiking ones.

We walk on a narrow but well visible and marked path.

I don't know what caliber this is, but it certainly wasn't a dog bomb.

We leave the marked path and head towards the hamlet Pri Peči.

After descending from Štanjel we switch to a nice gravel road.

We have no horses, so at this sign we turn sharply right.

The forest path gradually rises, so we're fine :)

First sign for Skozno, which we have as the main goal this time.

What is this now, a toilet in the middle of nowhere???

The answer comes soon. Nearby is the Lijak takeoff site, judging by what is seen, quite visited.

How could it not be, the slope is made for takeoffs.

Probably the work of previous generations.

A small sign tells us that we are approaching a natural landmark.

You can also get through here, but the hole is a bit too small for Skozno :)

This one is the right one, a natural arch about 10 m high definitely attracts looks.

Just a little further is a rest area with a path junction.

We go straight ahead, direction Vitovlje. The path is extremely comfortable.

We leave the transverse path and turn right.

The comfort ends, a more rocky terrain follows. An ancient marker shows the direction towards Kopitnik.

At another junction we turn right again and begin the descent into the valley.

Furmanska station, this time a place for a snack.

We have already noticed this several times, and under the rock there are also rings for tethering.

In the immediate vicinity there is also the healing grove of St. Lucija.

We make a quick detour to the nearby vantage point.

Church of St. Mary on Vitovski hill. Beautiful location also for families with children.

Further on we look for the sign for Šmihel.

And another view of Skozno from the other direction. We walked up there.

Now we follow the valley paths, which are equally interesting.

Even an ancient asphalt base can be found.

In the background is the source of the Lijak stream.

The weather is changing strangely for us, but it will surely hold.

At the starting point. We walked a short distance along the main road, which has enough space at the edge for two pedestrians.
