Always a good choice by bike. Ascent on the road from Cerknica, for descent there are tons of paths and trails leading in all directions of the sky ...
In nice weather you can nicely see the Alps, Snežnik and of course Lake Cerknica (or currently Cerknica field nasmeh

)

Anyway not quite smooth, but still flies pretty well nasmeh

Slivnica and Cerknica lake area

Start in Unec, via Rakek to Cerknica and Slivnica, descent to Grahovo, over Žerovnica, Gorenje Jezero, to Otok, Dolenje Jezero, Zelše, over Rakov Škocjan back to Unec

Ascent to Slivnica not too demanding (slopes avg under 10%), starts at elderly home in Cerknica along north shady hill side. Bike choice most influenced by road base, after first km next 7km gravel, same descent to Grahovo for loop from top. Middle and lower part of forest road to Grahovo renovating and sanding, so MTB almost mandatory now.
Signs at forest junctions not many, where none just take wider bigger road.

Pleasant and educational trip from Grahovo around south slopes of Cerknica lake, but roads from Laz near Gornje Jezero onward mostly gravel not as flat as map seems, especially if continue over Rakov Škocjan. There need steps on foot for sights, so suitable (bike) footwear.

from here on there are approx. 8 km of not too steep incline

shady forest road which here and there offers a nice view

at the saddle, already just below the summit, where the road levels out

at the top of Slivnica, at the tower, 1114m

descent on the forest road down to Grahovo, the road is being gravelled and is currently quite gravelly

around the lake along the southern slopes under Javorniki

gravel forest roads on the southern side are more suitable for mountain bikes

Across the road ... across the water (Cerkniščica river).

Signs of attractions at road intersections.

Distinctive little church of sv. Volbenka in Zelšah.

Along the road to Rakov Škocjan, a bit up and down.

Most attractions in Rakov Škocjan are not accessible by bike.

Nice trip and excellent description...In six, seven sentences you can present everything and nasmeh

that's it. Super photo gallery of the trail...You can "immerse" yourself as if you rode the trail personally! Looking forward to new reports from MTB terrain...Best regards/Bruno!

Finally a motivated tenant at Slivnica.
Because of Corona times, a self-service vending machine awaits you on the terrace with a hot drink. All praise to the new tenants

By bike along the eastern shore from Lower to Upper Lake and further through Lipsenj to Grahovo, where I started the ascent towards the squirrel habitat. No squirrels, but I met two that charmed me, enchanted not quite. Descent to Cerknica, to the elderly home Cerknica. Weather gorgeous, views from Slivnica summit great, road conditions ok. Nice trip nasmeh
