Yesterday 15 hikers set off on a hike to the branch church of St. Philip and Jacob in Golavabuka (654 m), start was at seven in the morning at the Parish Church of St. Martin in Šmartno pri Slovenj Gradcu (438 m). With shorter stops (at the branch church of St. Barbara a lady and gentleman hosted us with excellent sandwiches and other goodies. Thanks to both and God bless) we needed four hours walking to the branch church of St. Philip and Jacob. At 11:00 Holy Mass and blessing of renovated church organs. After mass blessing of firefighters, fire vehicles and equipment followed. We ended the hike at idyllic tourist farm Lešnik in Golavabuka (700 m), where we enjoyed excellent lunch and hospitality, thanks to Mrs. Irma and family members. God bless. After lunch we chatted some, then headed to valley, some by cars, some on foot, as to Šmartno pri Slovenj Gradcu not far, just good half hour walk.

This time dense fog accompanied most of the path, only briefly the sun greeted us through the fog at St. Barbara, fog accompanied us until St. Magdalene, then it cleared. Otherwise, we chose the right day for the hike, it was quite warm, almost too warm for early November, most importantly nothing rained. Thanks: to all hikers for company, lady and gentleman at St. Magdalene for snack, Lešniks from Golavabuka for lunch, Marijica from Tomaška vas for must and other goodies. Thanks everyone and God bless.

Yesterday, on St. Florian's Saturday, about 30 hikers went on the Šmarška parish path connecting churches of the parish Šmartno pri Slovenj Gradcu. We gathered at seven a.m. at the main parish church of St. Martin in Šmartno pri Slovenj Gradcu.
This time the weather initially served us well, around 15:30 strong storms appeared, heavy rain and thunder, also hail the size of a hazelnut surprised us in Tomaška vas.
On this hike there were more stops than usual, so almost half a day on the path (almost 12 hours), and sheltering under sheds, garages and hayracks took some timevelik nasmehnasmeh. Due to bad weather we did not go to St. Mary's church on Homec. Finally, thanks to our guide Vanč for excellent leading, all hikers for company and all hosts along the path. God bless everyone.

Hikers of the Šmartno parish are organizing together with PD Slovenj Gradec on Sunday, November 2, a hike along the Šmarška parish trail. The trail passes all subsidiary churches of the Šmartno parish from Šmartno past St. George, St. Barbara, St. Philip and St. James in Golavabuka, past both churches in Brda (St. Magdalene and St. Andrew) to St. Thomas in Tomaška vas, then through Dobrava to Homec and back to the church in Šmartno. The total length of the trail is just under 29 km, which is quite enough for autumn short days. Whoever is not ready to walk it all can shorten the trail as desired.
We will start the hike as usual at 7 a.m. at the church in Šmartno.

The main parish of Šmartno pri Slovenj Gradcu is naturally rich and dotted with important cultural-sacral objects, such as the parish church of St. Martin and seven subsidiary churches: St. George, St. Barbara, St. Philip and St. James, St. Magdalene, St. Andrew, St. Thomas, St. Mary at Homec. All this we connected in 2008 into the Šmarška parish trail, equipped it with signposts, laminated boards at each church and marked with signs or markings ŠFP, which is a yellow triangle with a white dot, meaning the Eye of God. The entire trail is 28 km long and takes 7.5 hours to walk. Elevation difference is 389 m. This year's hike we started on 02 May at 06:00 at the parish church. At the Lešniks we had a hot meal, at St. Philip and St. James at 11:00 Holy Mass. This was already the XIV. traditional hike, on this occasion I thank all hosts along the trail and keykeepers who opened the churches for us to see the interior and sing a Marian song. Thanks to all and God bless.
Already now cordially invited to the autumn 15th, jubilee hike.
