Late afternoon due to the stifling heat I dash out for air with MTB to nearby Smarna Gora via Zavrh. On the way I visit the Birth House of Jakob Aljaž in Zavrh, which locals maintain praiseworthily. After conversation with the local neighbor, who is related through one branch of the family, he says Jakob was more of a world citizen than a priest and that's why he did big projects (water supply, food...) and helped the residents. Priesthood as a profession was fashionable in those times, like something elevated, gentlemanly, which was his mother's wish. He was born in a large family, but himself never had descendants, although he also looked at some girls. There are no memorial items in the house because they took everything years ago when the hut was empty without an owner. Finally the gypsies took even that old stove through the door. Neighbor says many friends of Jakob Aljaž visit the place, where they sing - Oj Triglav my home, how beautiful you are - and then ascend to Smarna Gora. Well, I also went up, but with a bike. A bit higher the heat disappeared and at the top the setting sun was shining. Luckily no rain up here, but there was a bad thunderstorm in Ljubljana according to mom's story. I did the tour past Medno over the wooden Sava bridge and via Zavrh, where on return it added up to 25km, riding time 1h30min, avg. speed 17.4km/h, descent time from Smarna Gora to Zavrh only 4min, that was flying!, best regards. from Rok.

Late afternoon MTB hop over Zavrh to Šmarna for sunset. Fewer hikers today than usual and one cyclist including me. Wind dried path well already, just below farm still little stream. In Zavrh reshaping road to asphalt with curbs. Super steep bit for some fitness .
