I'm interested in the conditions from Zapodno to Kanja saddle and then to Šmihelovec, Zagorelec and Veliki Jelenk. Igor, I hope at least you know something about it.

Up to Zapotok pasture dry, further on you have to count on snow patches, unless you go along the shepherd's path above the pasture to the right to the junction of the path through Srednjica and further to Kanja.

Today Dulet and I were on Šmihelovec and Zagorelec. There's still very little snow so winter gear isn't needed but ice axe wasn't superfluous anyway. We ascended Šmihelovec via steep crumbly gully starting some hundred meters from Kanja saddle. After exit we traversed ridge northwest. At two spots we bypassed to south side. From Kanja to summit less than an hour. Climbing difficulty in gully and ridge good II. Descended via scree gully described as approach in latest encyclopedic guide: Julijske Alpe - author Jože Drab. Ascent to Zagorelec easy stroll. Until one o'clock weather clear then fog enveloped summits.

Nice lonely spots. But unforgettable crossing through Bukovska korita. Much more demanding than ascent to Nizki vrh. Rest nasmeh for experienced hikers. Congrats.
