Šmohor, Batognica and Krn

From Lepena to planina Duplje, there I turn towards Bogatinsko sedlo, but soon I leave the comfortable path and follow the markers leading to Mali Šmohor. The little path soon turns into a comfortable mulatjera, higher up back into a little path. NE wind blows all the time, occasionally quite annoyingly. I continue on the remains of former little paths and mulatieras to Veliki Šmohor, there I check out the rock slide from the 1998 earthquake, descend pathlessly on the right side to the marked path from Prehodci towards Peski and go to the monument, sit a bit, then continue on the nice panoramic path under Vrh nad Peski or to Prag. There I sit again and watch bearded vultures elegantly circling above me. There two girls catch up with me and we continue over Batognica to Krnska škrbina and the summit, where we part for a while, then descend together to Krnsko jezero. In the hut at K. lake I eat a good strudel, then back to Lepena.

So Krn is steep!? I'm really glad. I'll go up soon...if not next weekend already!

Please clarify whether the path to Krn from the Komna direction is shorter or time-wise better if going to Prehodci, than if going past Krn lake, and how long the path over Prehodci, Prag and Batognica to Krn takes?

@Andrej, it's not shorter, no big difference though. From where the path splits (straight to Krn lakes, left to Prehodci) you'll walk past the lake to Krn summit around 2.30, via Prehodci 3 hours. True I went down via Prehodci so estimating that time, but I think the ratio is about that - via Prehodci a bit longer.

Is this really Prehodci or just a shortcut for Prehodavci (sounds kinda prekmursky to me)? velik nasmeh

Prehodci and Prehodavci are different things, completely at the other ends.

Yeah, I suspected that, 'cause from Prehodavci to Krn it'd be whoa, some walking.

Thanks for the clarification, have a nice weekend! nasmeh

Has anyone hiked the pathless terrain from Veliki over Mali Šmohor to Vrh nad Peski? Is it exposed?
