Smokuški vrh via Sankaška Hut

Today: path trodden to the summit, a few steps further along the ridge. Sun, fog, hoarfrost; winter beauties. View only towards Stol and slightly towards Julijci, fog below. Sankaška hut closed (Mon. and Tue.=closed)
(Clear) no avalanche danger..
Another pleasant, carefree winter hike.

With PD Medvode today a bit different from plans. According to program we should reach Smokuški vrh /Vrh peči/ along Smokuških peči ridge from Žirovnica, but yesterday's check showed conditions for such group not safe. Ridge is icy and much harder than in dry conditions. So we went for the summit from the other side. From Begunje, past St. Peter and Paul church and Sankaška koča. Church caretaker opened it for us and briefly led us through history, admit, interesting. Sankaška koča was open, cat from upper pic still there, purring and seeking attention. Weather was gloomy all the time, snowing very finely, just before end sun finally shone. Partially icy below, quite some snow up top, lower south part dry of course. Returned under ridge on unmarked paths leading to spring in Žirovnica, where start should have been. Well, another proof end can be beginning too. Right?
