Snežni vrh 1863 m

Hello!
Again in Tolminske Peči, where snow conditions for ski touring are ideal. By car to Podkuk plateau where I find a suitable parking spot. The road ahead is completely icy. At Razor plateau I visually assess the peaks and decide for Snežni vrh. I strap skis to backpack and start slowly ascending the avalanche chute upwards towards the old Italian karavla under Vrh. Before entering the dangerous steep I put on crampons, helmet and ice axe in hand. Snow is frozen in the morning of course. Crampons grip nicely. Snow conditions don't change all the way to the top (it's frozen). On the flat under Vrh, rest, this time with camera I photograph nice views all around. I use the break also for ascent to Snežni vrh itself and the ridge following to northeast. Then prepare for skiing. With skis traverse to northeast to Globoko pass. From there on "firn" to Primorska side into spacious cirque. Frozen snow has softened, so slalom is pure yippee. At bottom of cirque, towards summer path to Vogel, less and less snow. Transitions between shrubbery a bit tricky but previous great skiing makes up for it.
Best regards and safe in the mountains!

Hello!

On Friday morning from t. Ravne to pl. Kal, from there under t. Migovec to the expanses of pl. Razor. Here I rest a bit and snack. Then along the left pathless "slide" in the direction under the walls. In the steep part I cross the "slide" and on the right side of the pathless - choosing safe passages - I pant up the slopes under the former Italian post. A bit before the bivouac renovated last year I step on the marked path leading to Globoko Pass. But I go left on the unmarked path to Snežni vrh 1863m. It is an indistinct peak in the Peči. Through the valley between small ridges I go east to Globoko Pass. From there straight down the wide gully - which in snow is a great ski slope - to the bottom on the marked path from Vogla to the hut. The hut is open only on weekends. To t. Ravne I descend via shortcut. Nice loop trail, I recommend!

Best regards and good luck in the mountains!
