Again it was time to spin the pedals a bit. I was a bit late for Dobrač, so I probably made an even nicer tour right on home turf towards Bohinj. I start the tour at Grohar's monument in front of the church in Sp. Sorica at 800m. I thought I was closer to Soriška pl., but the route showed it's still nearly 8km steep ascent and 500 elevation meters to Bohinj Saddle; if you go cold into the hill, then additional fiasco. Due to my condition it wasn't bad, and nicely rested I arrived at the top. There a colleague with a specialka joins us, who started from Škofja Loka. He finished the tour only at the ascent to Pokljuka over Bled to home; his wife already scolded him that he should be home for dinner . For the descent we had available a whole 13 km kamikaze descent, where in places it flew up to 75km/h . Suddenly we found ourselves in Boh. Bistrica on proper Gorenjska. To Bohinj along the flat at 35km/h I arrived in a moment, so I pleasantly extended the route further to Savica. In Ukanc real quiet idyll with rustling of cold wind and steep wall of Pršivec. Tourists that day were swarming; many from England, Netherlands, Germany, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland, some Poles and Czechs. I stop at the bridge at Savica and meet a Ljubljanan who has been visiting Bohinj for many years. He says Bohinj locals still don't know how to work with foreigners; cashiers don't even know to greet, before already shoving the bill at the tourist. Then in Bohinj there is still plenty of untapped tourist offers, like fly-fishing (if there were fish inside) on Zg. Savica, better arranged bike paths, opening of decaying hotels; not even the shop in Ukanc, which was there as long as I remember, they can equip at least for summer season for camp needs. They could introduce some stalls for selling cheeses from Zadnji Vogl or Fužinske planine, meat goodies; in the only camp via TNP at least allow leveling of parcels, since tourist pays all that and finally supports tourism development, etc . Thank God, at least nature is here which somehow contributes that guests in some number still return. Only privates here increasingly realize that in tourism must constantly invest, improve and not just take. Camp with new owners (same as Ski Vogel) somewhat renovated and prices brought to realistic frames (now 10eur/night, after July a bit more), water now has 15°C just for dicks. Bohinj is really very beautiful and though I was there a whole 3h, it was hard back. Ascent over Bohinjsko sedlo was quite a tough bite with 13km ascent and 800m. Tour is one of the nicer ones with us and with some condition normally doable in one day. Some data on route: 80km, 1450m, avg. riding speed 17.2km/h, total riding time 4h36min.
