Starting point is Pecol or High Montasio Plateau. Continue towards Škrbina nad Cijanerico (Forca Palone) of course on skis, since the track is already made. At the flattening below the notch turn left and continue along the slanting ledge to the southern slopes. There continue on skis for a while, then with proper gear to the top. Conditions for hiking excellent, even better for skiing back to Pecol or V Žlebe.

The road to Pecol is still drivable, so the approach is much shorter, but then you have to go on foot because there's at least half a meter of snow missing on Montasio plateau.
From the flattening towards Škrbina nad Cijanerici there's connected hard snow cover, with some soft and hard slabs on it, but they don't pose increased avalanche danger.
From the flattening as per previous description, except the upper part isn't fully snowed, so need to scratch a bit on rocks and loose snow.
No wind to the top, cold quite bearable, or even too warm at times.

How is it not a success story? Realization is success and returning to the valley unharmed is important, so one can soon head off to new adventures.

This Špik is on my list of highest Julijci and wouldn't let me rest... yesterday it worked. We approached from the west via Leva. When the fixed cables end on the grassy ledge, there's a huge rock with a slab above the path. Under it we built a conical cairn, no more ahead. If you go a bit right there, you find a narrow gully (actually two parallel), which goes well towards the ridge, more or less straight up. Just before the ridge left into a more cluttered gully and up it to the forepeak with cairn. In the cairn the logbook is soaked beyond recognition, the only thing we managed was to pour out the water from the box. The summit is a few meters left along the airy ridge; otherwise a very interesting peak, relatively flat and spacious, after a few meters cliffs on three sides In the summit cairn there's a "summit book", a tiny pad of sheets in a jar obviously cared for by some Videmčan, since 2012 only 13 entries. It was a wonderfully fulfilled day
