Are they already dismantling the cable car (picture 17)?

Cable car poles were dismantled two months ago. Now after two months they cleared the poles lying on the parking lot.

Of course, Tadej and I did this tour together, so there won't be too much guessing. It's nice to hike with him.

Srednja peč - 1920 m is always in sight when walking to Stol. Proudly sticks up independently before Stol. On the left side of the valley in Kožnah with big boulders. Across the little valley Orličje separated by small cirque. Falls to the valley in Kožnah with steep jagged walls. Not easy to reach its summit covered with grass and dwarf pines. Almost three hours to the starting point at the end of the valley in Kožnah. From there one hour to Stol. Of course if starting at Ljubelj. Doesn't matter which path above Zelenica. Upper and lower roughly same length, only upper descends via annoying notch. Yesterday quite muddy. At junction at end of valley in Kožnah, where right to Celovška koča, on left side cairn by path, then off-path over jagged rocks with dwarf pines up. Spot cairns guiding to grassy saddle south of goal. In scree barely visible trail safely up through scree higher. Follow nicely to dwarf pines - even small clearing made through. Then steep grass. Straight up by dwarf pines, under ridge middle of ascent another faint trail along SW ridge edge safely past all hazards to top. View down to valley in Kožnah quite high. Summit has extensive clearing. Even box for entries. No stamp. View to Stol, Orličje (NE ridge of Stol). Highest peak Krkotnik. Middle split by Celovška škrbina. Nice weather, unique views. Path as difficult pathless. Strongly advise against in wet.
Start at Ljubelj was very early.1
On the ridge of Begunjščica the day dawns.2
When arriving along the right path before the notch, we already spot our target on the left. Like some kind of guard, it stands before Stol.3
This is that notch from below.4
On the left path we will return here.5

Crossroads to Celovška koča.7
Here turn left towards the scree and alongside it upwards to the saddle below Srednja peč.8
Carefully across this rocky area.9
We already see the southwest side of our target. This is taken further to the right of our pathless terrain.10
First a little over the scree - a pathlet is visible.11
Then pathless steeply upwards through steep grasses beside the scree.12
Deep view down.13
On the summit. A clearing is visible.14

View to the other side of V Kožnah valley. Interesting flat slab.16

In the center is the Beljščica saddle. To the right the peak named Svačica -1958 m - easily accessible target is visible.20
Exceptionally, the book was also photographed. I recognized someone in it.21

Today start from Ljubelj around half past six towards paradise for lovers of peace and quiet, Srednja peč.
From the junction for Suho ruševje onwards no traces of last snowfall (and wind) were visible. From the last junction for upper path towards Stol had to break trail almost the whole way. Also made "štenge" down the gully.

From the spot where upper path joins lower path, trailbreaking was very strenuous, mostly sinking to knees, somewhere even to butt. Cairns showing unmarked path to Srednja peč are visible. Path along south side of Srednja peč mostly dry. At top no wind so took time to brew coffee and enjoy views while drinking it. Last entry in summit logbook dated 24.10.2019.

Descent on lower path to saddle Šija. Here in forest and all to saddle was most strenuous to break trail, as really sank deep almost every step.
In short, really nice peak for solitude lovers, which today really had to work for, but worth it nasmeh

Already last year I eyed it from Celovška špica and searched in the panorama for ascent options to its summit. Actually it's been on my mind since Edina posted she climbed it, six years agonasmeh. Since then my gaze always catches on it, as it's magically positioned in the world between Stol and Vrtača. But people's steps near it aren't aimed at its summit, so it remains rarely visited, unknown and mysterious. But view from its top is wonderful, better than imagined, offering sights of series of beautiful peaks surrounding it.

Yes, quite some new yesterday on this path. We started a bit lower from Tinčkova koča, headed to unmarked path over Zagon and nicely found passage to marked lower path to Stol. Near branch to Celovška koča we turned left and soon spotted little trail winding across scree under Srednja peč. Then bit into steep grass leading us to ridge edge where bottomless depth opened. Seemed a bit too much, so on return sought passages a bit lower.
At top logbook from 2000 calling for renewal as pages flutter when opened. Think I managed to catch them allnasmeh, though wind wasn't much help.

Extended tour to Srednji vrh, descended to Koča pri izviru Završnice and back to Tinčkova koča, wondering which hut is actually his. There are several.

Did 1350 m elevation gain, 14 km, took us 8.5 hours with all stops, of which changing clothes probably took one hour, as we were constantly packing and unpacking gear.
Tour conclusion at Zavrh bar in nature's embracenasmeh.

Bravo, nice tour that calls for a repeat. Years ago we went up right at the ridge start and descended elsewhere, much safer and less scree.

10.07.2021 we too to Middle Slab. Start at Ljubelj to Zelenica and upper trail to Stol. The path is cleared and newly marked. Really wonderful peak where you enjoy solitude. Most go to Vrtača, some further to Stol and Svačica. Us alone at the top. The fog ruined the views. We returned via the lower path to saddle Šija, then to Srednji vrh, back to the saddle and continued on the upper path to Zelenica and Ljubelj.
