This time we first walked the "old path" to Matajur, which is definitely nicer (at least for me) than the one starting in Avsa village. Its start is from the parking lot about 300m above Avsa village. Through forest and across clearings it leads first to Srednji, then to Mrzli vrh. From there it descends and joins the path from the village. To Mrzli vrh there is about 20cm of snow, compacted and holds the weight of a person up to 70kg nasmeh, maybe even more nasmeh. On Mrzli vrh windy and in places quite icy. We continued on the mulattiera to the Italian side, then along the ridge to the summit. Visitors were few despite beautiful and warm weather, views to the end and back nasmeh.... In valleys fog and low cloudiness.... really hard to go back.

After a good week again on the same path with added Kolovrat. Had to say goodbye to the last this year's sunny sunset. Conditions changed.... path trodden, frozen, holds weight even more than 70 kg nasmeh, icy below summit, so without crampons no way. Day beautiful, sunny... may the new year have as many as possible such days, and even a meter more snow nasmeh.

I have already thought several times about this path, since I had walked it before and it suited me well, but it just wouldn't come up. After yesterday's slog in Friuli where we couldn't reach the end, Matajur came to mind while thinking where to go tomorrow and I knew right away that this path would be our greatest joy. Indeed it was so, as we enjoyed the whole time, even when we got slightly lost at the start and end. In the forest and on meadows you need to watch the markers if you want to stay on the path, no other peculiarities. Views on our side were gorgeous, Laško side less due to fog. They say third time's the charm, but this was my second time on this path, hope next time on skis and soon nasmeh

Parking above Avsa exemplary arranged, no meters or barriers, friendly greet with a few locals on tour. Path to summit almost always snow covered, nice track crunching uphill frozen as it was, downhill more puddles than snow. Wow, at car after tour pleasant +12. Path itself without peculiarities, winter gear in terms of microspikes and gaiters unnecessary in given conditions. Views divine, sea, mountains ours and foreign, crowd during my rest time up there almost none. Great outing, followed by after in last valley under Triglav at Kopiščar in Zanje. Also excellent. nasmeh

Srednji and Mrzli vrh and Matajur. Parking above Avsa still free, (old) path from there to Matajur summit wonderful as always. Some mud on path due to rain days before today, higher bit of snow beside path, weather sunny, heat long gone, frost not yet. On path itself no crowds, uphill two ponies, downhill two donkeys, two ponies, some cows and calves. On summit quite a few of us, holidays here beautiful weather, really worth taking advantage of the lovely day. Already many times up and down this path, very likely again, today's trip will remain in special memory due to company nasmeh

Bojan, for God's sake don't mention ramps and parking fees. Before those two from pic 42 join others at Kobarid municipality they'll surely introduce themzavijanje z očmi
