St. Lovrenc

There are many beautiful hills and paths leading to them in the area around Nova Gorica. One of them is also St. Lovrenc, where the ruins of a little church are located, whose mention dates back to 1520. There are several paths to St. Lovrenc, I chose the one from Grgarske Ravne. It leads through the forest, crosses two clearings and when you reach the top of 799m high Lovrenc, a wonderful view opens up on all sides....from the Julian Alps, Carnic Alps, Trnovo Forest...to the sea. The path is well marked from the very beginning and takes a short hour to the top, a bit less back to the village.

I discovered St. Lovrenc by chance a few years ago, when I originally planned to go to Lašček, but due to strong wind changed plans. Since then I have climbed it several times on marked paths from Bat and Grgarske Ravne. In the snow, the path with snowshoes from the playground at Banjšice over Sleme and then on the marked path from Svetega was very interesting. But Kalanova circular path didn't excite me the most.

On Sunday, 1.12.2013, however, from Grgarske Ravne on invisible little paths through locally quite difficult to pass forest.
