This time I went with PD Za Selško dolino Železniki with their guiding section on the final trip into the unknown. I thought we would turn towards the sea-but wrong direction. We headed towards Tolmin and then to Italy. Soon they guessed we would conquer the pilgrimage center Stara Gora/Castelmonte. To the starting point San Leonardo/also Svet Lienart or Šentlenart/Friulian then Šentlenart. San Leonardo is a municipality in the decentralized regional unit Videm in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located 60km northwest of Trieste and 25 km east of Udine. It took us more than three hours to get there. The hiking trail start is well marked. But it was a struggle with mud, fallen trees, slippery rocky path etc. Well, we safely arrived in front of the mighty monastery building and pilgrimage church, whose interior vault construction is something special. We looked inside. No monks seen. To the monastery itself with the church there is a nice asphalt road. Unfortunately too little time to see Udine. We had to hurry back to Slovenia because we had an arranged end in guesthouse Marco Polo. Two participants performed a full theatrical addition. We had a great time. I like going with them.

We're heading to Stara gora/Castelmonte.3
Well marked.4
The sky was magical.5
On path 760. Such marked paths in Italy as well as in Austria I like very much.6
Destroyed path after logging.7
We overcame mud and water.8
The path goes uphill - we have about 700m of ascent.9
Full of those spiky plants.10
In between we go through the hamlet Pikon.11
12
It is really well marked.13
Along the path.14
Chapel along the path.15
The last ascent is quite rocky and slippery.16
Nothing to it - Italians really mark the paths well. What if we imitated them.17
Here also goes the Alpe-Adria Trail path.18
A little more.19
In front of the monastery.20
21
Entrance to the monastic building, I'd say almost a small town in miniature.22
Along a narrow alley.23
We come to an open area.24
In front of the church.25
The interior of the church is something special. Such construction is rare.26
Departure from the large parking lot.27
Conclusion in this age - highly recommend.28
They staged an interesting sketch - bravo!29
