Early morning in Sappada didn't promise a nice day, but already in Comelico the picture improved significantly. From the parking lot to the "Hut at the end of the valley" leads a road closed to public traffic, and further to Zsigmondy-Comici hut the path is more a real pedestrian highway than a mulattiera. Easy trail passes quickly as we move in landscape with beautiful views. Larches already starting to get color and just over two hours we are at the hut's doorstep, where with the accordion player a couple of guys are in a singing mood. From the hut all the way visible path to Forcella Giralba runs under north wall of Zwölfer and is snowy here and there. Soon after frozen lake past the junction to Monte Popero practically starts Strada degli Alpini, which soon wraps around narrow gully where practically completely covered and here is that famous photo detail from the thread in sunlight. Here we must especially watch our head, as the ledge is very low-roofed and dark. Rest of this path strongly reminds of Dolič-Prehodavci crossing through Rž. Last part over north face of Elfer we skipped, as already in hut and later all advised against it. From Elferscharte notch we descended path 124, which past open-air museum (WWI) leads exactly to start. Hey repeaters I'd warn that ca 20min below Comici hut can take shortcut that bypasses hut and joins higher on path to Forcella Giralba under aforementioned lake; Locatelli hut under Tre Cime closed today, others closing next week.

Carducci hut, where we slept from Sunday to Monday, is definitely among the most spartan ones in this part of the Dolomites. The best beds are on lowered tables and benches in the dining room - so-called emergency beds. In the morning as the first we set off into a beautiful cloudless morning and in less than a quarter hour we are already standing under fluttering multicolored flags on a rope stretched across Giralba saddle. We continue on Strada degli alpini, views really boundless from Zwölfer on the left in the distance Sorapis then Monte Cristallo, before it a bit to the right Tre Cime Croda Rossa d'Ampezzo. Even more to the right Punta dei tre scarpieri and Zillertal Alps in the distance, which transition into High Tauern. This time at Forcella Elfer we turn right behind the edge and extend over the north face of Cima Undici-Elfer to Passo della Sentinella - there the north horizon is closed by Croda Rossa di Sesto. This part was not yet known to us - last time it was still full of snow here. Anyway, this section is the most demanding on this part of the path, and the descent via Valon Popera toward Berti hut due to unstable steep terrain in the upper part is very unfriendly. We abandon the thought of beer at Berti hut and take a slightly trodden path under Neuner walls toward Croda Sora i Colisei. There a short view from the top gives us the idea for a change of the return plan to the pass; instead of past the old Sala hut, rather a few minutes back and from the saddle west of the summit steeply down to path 15a and the full circle is closed. Beautiful two-day tour in wonderful environment, where - especially the first day - you won't meet many people.

Alpinisteig - ferrata Strada degli Alpini from Sexten Dolomites group V from Tre Cime.
Tour on 11.8.2023. It was wonderful, unforgettable.
Route description from N direction (near Rifugio Zsigmondy-Comici) towards S.
Difficulty there B-C. Harder, much longer than path across ridge (Mira Debelak). No such difficult section as on Jubilee on Prisojnik, but longer. Very much exposure, especially second part, so not for the dizzy.
Otherwise path on ledges and overall well protected. On one section very close to abyss, ground scree, no cable, some climbing hold helps. Another 2-3 sections more exposed and unprotected.
A couple of photos also from path to pass, this ferrata continues. Descent to S or ascent from S not described, no photos.
In short, sharp, demanding path offering plenty of enjoyment.

Nice and long tour; that last part from Forcella Elfer to Passo Sentinella is done by few hikers because it extends the tour by at least two hours if started from Dolomitenhof. But I have to correct you, this is not Tre Cime group but Sexten Dolomites.
