Strevčeva peč - 1338m

STREVČEVA PEČ

We have often observed the steep cliffs located at the exit from the gorge - right (a few hundred meters before paying the entrance fee to Log. dolina).

Today we observed these cliffs from the top of Raduha and immediately decided to find a path to the top. We drove to Sv. Duha pod Olševo. Behind the farm and the little church we found a forest path leading towards the top of the cliff. After a few hundred meters, the real steepness starts from the easy forest path. The path (or path traces) steeply winds between larches and spruces and soon transitions to rocky ground (we were quite glad for the rocky terrain). The path in the forest was wet and slippery (the steepness severe) - the path is neither marked nor secured!!

When we reach the rocks, a magnificent view opens up, thrilling at the same time due to the precipitous wall. If you have no vertigo and can handle some mountain walking skills, visit this summit and a view will open that you won't forget!

We took cca. 20min for the path.

How demanding is the path from Sv. Duha to the top of Strevčeva peč to follow and to traverse.
I'm thinking of going with the family (5-year-old boy) on Saturday for a hike somewhere we haven't been before...
Thanks for the reply

From the Sv. Duh church there is a forest track. To the ascent in the forest it's cca. 15-30min easy walk. Then there are a few minutes (cca 15min) of ascent that is quite steep. The boy, you can carry him where it seems more difficult to you. I think it will go and you'll manage the ascent.

@geppo: so that means total about 45 minutes ascent?

The ascent is actually cca. 15 to 30min, the rest is a walk on the flat forest track.
In the steep part watch the boy, otherwise no problem for adults.
But the best views from this cliff to Logarska and KSA - worth doing this walk!

Nice, panoramic summit. Access from Sv. Duh is short but steep, "proper" footwear recommended. I walked along the western ridge of the cliff. It is wide enough to safely descend to the edges above the Globovšek stream far below, with a view of Golarjeva peč.

After a morning migraine and afternoon ramble on the summit part of Olševa, there was still enough time to revisit the top of this prominent cliff after more than fifteen years.
How beautiful and wild it is along the edge! I descended towards the west, almost to the abyss falling into the canyon between Golarjeva peč. There's really something to see here! True art of nature! I returned the same way.

I don't know what I was waiting for so long to visit it again?zavijanje z očmi

To this little hill mežikanje above Sv. Duh I "jumped" nasmeh a few days before the end of last year. The walk from the parking under the church is less than an hour round trip, but with nice weather much more time for views and exploring the ridge of this piece of wilderness above Savinja.

Along the logging road past the church, slight ascent into the forest and descent to the saddle before the final ascent with about 100m elevation gain.
Somewhere halfway up the slope I find a path to the eastern ridge, along which I continue to the top. This part of the path is slightly exposed but panoramic and short. The path was practically dry – a few patches of snow on it no problem.
If I had chosen a more direct ascent, I would have encountered snow in the upper forest below the summit, but there's not much and winter gear – at current temperatures – not needed there either.

In the sun it was pleasantly warm, views to surrounding mountains beautiful – Triglav even visible in the distance.

Short and pleasant trip, but still requires proper footwear and caution - both in the steep parts and on exposed sections of the ridge and summit.

17.7.2023: Ascent to Strevčeva peč via Globovšek stream canyon never leaves one indifferent. Memories thus imprint even deeper in our minds and I like to revive them at every opportunity. So this morning on the way to Logarska dolina I mentioned it as one of the options for our goal. Vinko was immediately for it. We also had all the necessary gear in the car.
We parked by the road to Čelo. Just the first sun rays illuminated the mighty Strevčeva peč when we headed into the Globovšek canyon. Hunter's paths to the waterfalls are almost gone due to fallen trees. So we pushed up each a bit in our own way and occasionally let out a juicy curse. But it was rewarded at the waterfalls, which this time really roared loudly due to recent heavy rains. Climbing beside the middle one we used for warming up before the upper. Vinko was bursting with enthusiasm over the beauty and wildness of the canyon. Ascent to the viewpoint below Strevčeva is much more demanding than before the windstorms, but with a bit more concentration we managed it. For descent Vinko set up an abseil while I was already below. zmeden Down to the stream I felt quite a few greetings against rheumatism in my legs and then catching trout in Globovšek felt even better.
Then goodbye shade. On the slopes of Golarjeva peč it was burning full on. We cooled off a bit only down in Globovšek. Pity that the canyon in the upper part is so filled with avalanche debris from Golarjeva peč that canyoning is impossible, which in this canyon is really wild.
On the ascent to Strevčeva peč this time no blue butterfly in sight, but again lots of climbing pleasures. Exhausted from effort and heat we screamed full out upon reaching the top.
This time no treats at Strevec where we had the other car, because no one was there and we had to hold out until Majerhold pod Pavličevim sedlom, where over cold drinks followed the tour analysis. It was very beautiful, strenuous, wild, with so much of everything that we'll surely head up there again, as there's still much unexplored.
The description is old but I wrote it because autumn is ahead when it's most beautiful up there. Maybe it tempts someone.
Regards and safe steps from under beautiful Golte, Janeznasmeh
