Studor

We headed out on the circular path past the sympathetic "house lookout of Stara Fužina" this Saturday, passing by the church of St. Paul. From there, a cart track leads to its namesake, the hamlet of Studor in Bohinj, which lies at the eastern foot of the mentioned hill. At the last house in the village, we climb up the pasture towards the forest, where we search for the start of the remains of the old path, which near the right edge of the Vrčica stream gully leads towards the Blatca pasture. Given that the path is occasionally well visible (we find it on some maps too) and quite wide in certain places, it's probably a trail along which livestock was once driven to the pasture, but it might also have served as a log slide or drag.

The ascent along the leaf-covered trail is quite steep in places, and due to overgrowth, we had to bypass its impassable sections several times. In its upper part, already near the pasture, where the path gets right up to the gully edge, continuing on it is mostly difficult due to erosion damage, so the climb continues on safer but still steep terrain to the left of it, while staying close to the gully, which leads to the eastern edge of the pasture. There, at the first hut on the pasture, a cart track awaits us, which we follow to the meadow, crossing it lengthwise and near the hut at the western edge of the pasture - past which a marked path from Stara Fužina leads towards Uskovnica - we find a good forest path, up which we ascend to the clearing at the summit of Studor in a good ten minutes. It also serves as a take-off point for paragliders, with a few benches on it.

We didn't go right to the top of Studor, which is a few minutes' walk east of the mentioned clearing, but we descended via the southern path, which enters the forest at the lower edge of the clearing. The steep and well-maintained trail joins the previously mentioned marked path between Stara Fužina and Uskovnica just above Hudičev most.

Southern views from Studor stretch from Ratitovec to Bogatin, nice view into the valley and Lake Bohinj. On the ascent from the pasture, through the trees we recognize Debeli vrh, Mišelj vrh, Triglav and Tosc with the rest of the crew.

Thanks nasmeh
Every mountain, regardless of height, is always higher than us.
So whenever we stand on its summit, let's realize we haven't "conquered" it, since our effort for the ascent is just a sign of respect to it.
Because - every next path to it must start anew, from the valley. nasmeh

For years I had planned to ascend the mentioned mountain, now Marjan (thanks for the idea and description) convinced me with his post to realize the plan.
I started the path in Srednja vas, continued towards Planina Blatca, from where I first went up to the takeoff point, then to the main summit. From takeoff to main summit it's mostly easier pathless terrain.
Descended to Stara Fužina, although initially planned to Studor, but turned back due to the muddy path on the slide as Marjan mentions.

Best, Tadej

Nice description. But the path to Blatca is hard to pass, overgrown with thorns and locally slippery and exposed. With some effort and less joy I made it to Blatca.:-) Maybe really nicer variant to Blatca from Srednja vas as Tadej shows. From Blatca on follow the description.

This time I went to Studor from Stara Fužina along the marked path towards Uskovnica past Blatca pasture, from there to the paraglider take-off point and to the top of Studor. I returned via the southern path.

The path from the parking lot - at the barrier on the road to Voje, i.e. pastures Vogar and Blato - to Hudičev most is icy in places. The marked path from the bridge towards Uskovnica is a bit slippery at the start, but after crossing the road (log slide) the snow is no longer icy. The path is bare in places, "real" snow starts a bit below Blatca pasture.

From the pasture, the trodden path (initially along the log slide) leads through slightly firmer snow, but winter gear wasn't needed – some microspikes would have been useful there for a possible descent. The ridge from the viewpoint (take-off) to the top of Studor is fully snow-covered. The southern path to Studor is – except for a few icy patches – completely bare.

The wish has been smoldering for some time, yesterday it came truenasmeh.

We drove to Srednja vas and headed along the marked path towards Uskovnica to pl. Blatca. There we looked a bit for tracks further towards Studor and soon spotted some. After a short view around, we caught the right direction to continue and past nice views of the familiar Julijci arrived at the viewpoint, which is also the take-off point for paragliders. We continued towards the summit and easily followed the tracks there. The world is simply more beautiful in snowy conditions and so it was with walking on this otherwise overgrown terrain. After a rest on the bench, we returned via the southern path, but hesitated a bit because of the snow on it. We knew it was steep, this time a bit icy too. But with all caution it went. On this path we met two paragliders who said the path is actually more used for ascent.

When we reached the snowy cart track, we turned left towards St. Fužina, continued through the village Studor and thus to the starting point in Srednja vas. All this time catching views of Studor, which shows a different face from all sides. But the most beautiful is its eastern side with the triangular wall, formed after a long-ago earthquake in the past. Super circular tour, so the summit really calls for a repeat! And it's rightnasmeh. Now is the right time!

On Saturday to Studor from Stara Fužina (marked path towards Uskovnica, back via southern path). From pl. Blatca I looked a bit for the path because I went too far on the meadow-(muddy) cart track is right away on the edge of the meadow by 2 huts, it continues into a steep log slide, which higher up needs to be followed to the right. From there roughly straight up, a bit left, to the take-off point.
