Today from Razdrto steeply to Suhi vrh. Up past Čeledin hut, down the circular path to the fork for Vojk hut. Sadly I discovered that the path marked on my map as marked hasn't been visited by markers for a long, long time.mrk pogled With some cairns in the right spots it worked, but if not officially abandoned, why not maintain it?zavijanje z očmi It's so beautiful...mežikanje
On descent visited St. Jerome's church too and descended to the valley via an easy path.
No rain caught us, just fog most of the time.

I was happy that part of the roof stayed original after re-roofing. Nice.7

We also linked Suhi vrh and Nanos into a more or less circular tour. We chose Šmihel pod Nanosom as the starting point, continued along the marked path across fields and finally tackled the hill towards Nanos. Midway we detoured to Suhi vrh. The branch sign is poorly visible, path trodden. Final ascent to it is via steep or less steep variant, best to connect both into a circular one. Continuation to Nanos is well marked, path good.

From Pleša we descended via transverse path to Veliki Ubeljski. Upper part steep and muddy, lower part flattens. At macadam junction turned left and followed yellow arrows of Jakob's path. Soon reached familiar areas and returned to start via morning route.

All in all normally passable, no fallen trees after recent storm.

Starting point coordinates (small parking under church): 45.798165, 14.118222

In Šmihel we were a bit early, but the day soon turned nice.1
Our direction … Nanos. Via Alpina, the red trail, also passes here.2
there we go3
Morning trek on the cart track over frozen ground4
Strane, a smaller hamlet5
Actually, three routes pass here … the mountaineering one, the Jakob route, Via Alpina6

28.4.2021. From Strane along the ridge to first peak Maj. From there past Votla stena window. Continued to Suhi vrh. In poor visibility and thick fog. From Suhi vrh to Vojkova koča. There sun peeked out from under clouds for a short time. Descended via another path, which goes above Veliki Ubeljski and then through forest to start in Strane. No rain even. Just the path quite slippery. And pretty cold. From window onward path very poorly visible in one section. Lots of wild garlic on these paths. Never seen so much. But also poisonous Solomon's seal and čmerilka. Met no one on path. Just some hikers at hut. About 12km walk and 1000m ascent. In sun tour would definitely be much nicer but fog has its charm too.

On Saturday we too on this nice path. In the center of Strane village we left the car and after some "test runs" up and down, we finally found the trail to Maj. (no wonder 1800m ascent accumulated). Trail nicely followable with a couple of cairns at junctions. Then ascends further along scenic ridge of Votlih sten to nice window. From here the trail a bit fades as Darinka wrote. From Suhi vrh then to Pleša and down steep trail almost to V. Ubeljski then along transverse path back to Strane. On this path we noticed some footprints of someone walking barefoot, as Lojze said.zavijanje z očmi

Strane - Dolgi grič - Maj - Votla stena - Suhi vrh - Boljunov vrh - Debeli vrh - Pleša - Strane

Today to closer hills, so no need to get up in the middle of the night and drive far nasmeh. Parked at the end of Strane village (at the last house left uphill). First time from this side.
Worth mentioning is the bunker above the village - marked as Dolgi grič on the map. Didn't plan to visit this "peak" but worthwhile as military objects interest me and I like exploring them. Haven't seen anything written about this bunker so hope useful info. Assume built sometime between wars.
Then back to usual path and continue ascent to next peaks. Trail to Suhi vrh mostly good to follow, with some slightly worse sections - shows not too crowded. Nice view from top and today almost no wind. Descend west side and a few meters below summit check out this bunker - more known than the lower one.
Then lower and head to second highest Nanos peak - Debeli vrh, en route visiting Boljunov vrh which isn't interesting and could skip. Path to these two unmarked, last part ascent pathless but not too demanding, just find right direction (map and GPS helpful).
To Vojkova koča via marked path, nothing special. Hut currently under renovation. Final descent to valley via steep trail towards Veliki Ubeljski and when steeper part behind continue left on track at Nanos foot to Strane.
Entrance to the bunker.1
From the entrance we go down a bit on the stairs2

I climb up to the shooting line.4
Up there. On the way down, you have to climb down the same ladder.5
I continue along the corridor. There are still some side rooms there and again a ladder to the upper floor from where we can reach the second exit.6

Interesting. I thought I knew Nanos end to end. But did you go to Debeli vrh via the road at the hunting hut, when you descended from Suhi vrh?

One could go via macadam path too, but I missed a bit so I went part pathless in forest and then joined macadam path at foot of Boljunov vrh.

(09.05. 2025) Strane- Maj- Votla Stena- Suhi Vrh- Vojkova koča and descent towards Veliki Ubelski. Part of the path we went along Jakob's path. To the starting point in Strane. The weather was just right for Friday. Grayness that lasted until we descended the demanding slippery path. But the tour was really nice. Mystical, as on the ridge path we couldn't even see each other. Stop at the hut. Where the caretaker is really great. And we even saw a bear, but not the real onevelik nasmeh . When Maksi smelled something while walking, he walked right behind me. We knew some animal was nearby. nasmehFor descent from Suhega Vrha we chose the shorter path so we didn't walk on the road. It's still visible. Cairns help. We walked 14 km.
