Tegoška gora (Hohe Spitze 2044m)

This morning I set off only at 9 a.m. to the foot of Košuta via Jelendol, but due to the short tour the thunderstorms won't be a hindrance.
From the Kofce-Pungrat junction I head right along the road across Pungratska planina, then steeper climb to Škrbina 1869m (lowest saddle in the ridge), there I turn right towards the east. Narrow grassy ledges follow, now newly marked. Tegoška gora has several peaks in the longer ridge, all mostly above 2000m. The first high peak, seen as the main one from Pl. Pugrat, is Pungratska gora at 2025m height. Further on continues an interesting varied ridge with views a bit into precipices towards Austrian Carinthia, some to our lower wooded pastures in Košuta. The wind sometimes blew coldly, otherwise warm breezes from the southern slopes. Finally the last high grassy peak of Tegoška gora appears, named Visoki vrh - Hohe Spitze 2044m. This mountain also offers good skiing, but only under reliable conditions. Due to developing cloudiness I quickly go over the saddle before Hohe Spitze - slight incline, descend to Tegoška planina and conclude a nice, scenic high-altitude circular tour. In between one can visit two nice pastures where they serve unique cottage cheese (no comparison to lowland farms), sour cream and sour milk. Except for sour milk I barely got the others last time! - all plundered.
Descent on steep grasses here in wet can be deadly dangerous, in dry the passage isn't quite suitable for Sunday mid-mountain hikers, for others easy descent without peculiarities. Further east we no longer have anything to fool around with on pathless steep grasses of Košuta, i.e. only for experienced mountaineers

The tour lasted less than four hours from Pl. Pungrat to Tegoška planina with short stops. Extremely scenic and nice, I recommend!.

today with my colleague we walked this path... four hours, just like you say, yeah viharnik. The sky was cloudless, on the peaks a little wind blew, which with the scorching sun came just right. As for the return path... really not for everyone, but with a careful step it goes... I myself "only" twice a bit (involuntarily) sat on my butt

Today we head to the central, very dear to me part of Košuta. Start is pl. Pungart, from where we walk less than an hour to Škrbina, where we meet the Bovec-Ljubljana group crossing the ridge from Kofce gora to Tegoška gora. Together we continue right to Pungratska gora, follows descent to saddle. With new acquaintances we take a break in the pleasant sunshine, follows the last ascent to Tegoška gora. At the top we meet a couple who came up from the east side, via Tolsti košuta, then Košut. turn and over Macesje ascent to Teg. gora. Interesting traverse. So many hikers up here I have never met, usually very solitary, today there were eight of us (an older couple followed us too!). We say goodbye to Markot & Aleš, follows descent on steep grasses to Tegoška planina and return to the car. Another beautiful day spent in the mountains, high above the fog..

After almost one year, we head again to my so beloved pl.Pungart. This time to Tegoška pl., then through pines we search for best passages to saddle. Very warm, no wind to ridge, a bit blows, so our dog isn't too hot. First to Tegoška gora, then to Pungartska. Alone we are, as far as the eye reaches no one, as if whole Košuta deserted, which I like very much and therefore always gladly return to these beautiful areas. Descent via Škrbina and soon back to pl.Pungart..

Well, I don't know what the road is like but on Saturday there were quite some cars at the pasture.
