The end of free mountain rescue is looming

So, Interior Minister Boštjan Poklukar has announced that due to the persistent increase in interventions, allegedly mostly by irresponsible "hikers", something needs to be changed regarding free rescue operations and it would be good to follow the example of other (unnamed, op.p.) Alpine countries. He didn't provide more specific details. Given the current balance of power in DZ, it's clear that the coalition voting machine will smoothly "bless" whatever the minister prepares. Of course, the legislative process also takes time, so nothing will change "tomorrow" for sure. Since we're already on politics , the leader of the largest opposition party is apparently an enthusiastic hiker/alpinist and it would be interesting to hear his stance on this too... More about it here: https://n1info.si/novice/slovenija/brezplacnemu-gorskemu-resevanju-odklenkalo-minister-napovedal-spremembe/ I assume that a hot debate on this topic will start here too...

Those who already pay insurance for abroad, and partially also PZS members, will just add a bit more for Slovenia. We're used to more and more new taxes lately. It would be fairer to introduce paid rescue for all those foreigners who come from countries where rescue is also paid for us.
