Opening a new topic-Thematic paths of Slovenia.

Slovenia is crisscrossed with a huge number of thematic paths. Yesterday hikers from PD Škofja Loka section VGN did one part of the thematic path in Brda-Along the Cherry Blossom Path. It has ten stages. One is also Alpe Adria TRAIL, another Gradnik's educational trail. Other stages are named after old cherry varieties-going by numbers-1.-Čmpevka, 2.-Črnica, 3.-Drugmbernca, 4.-Kozanka, 5.-is Gradnik's educational trail, 6.-Prvačnca, -7.-Blja cpika, 8.-Trcinka, 9.-Karnjuka and 10.-Alpe Adria TRAIL another listed as 11.-Vilinka. - Paths even cross a bit. They are usually done in stages.

We did path no. 2.-Črnica. It goes like this -Dobrovo, Slavče, Hlevnik, Hruševje, Neblo, Fojana and ends back in Dobrovo.

In between we also viewed the abandoned village Slapnik. For the weekend only one building is used, the rest are in ruins, and it was quite a nice village with about ten or more houses. Behind the last house a path leads to the abandoned road and along it we got back to the cherry path. Question would be who even knows these old cherries and if they have been preserved at all.

This path passes by several sacred objects - chapel in Šlovrenc, church of St. Margaret in Hruševje, chapel in Neblo, church in Fojana - Holy Spirit on the Lake and St. Florian.

Other sights on the path - Dobrovo Castle, two-arched stone bridge with stone sculpture of John Nepomuk and protected path in the canyon of Krčnik stream with gorges and natural bridge - extremely interesting.

You walk past numerous vineyards and persimmon orchards, which are already orange-colored. We also saw peach and cherry plantations.

We walked six hours. Weather was nice - sunny.

Autumn is here and now is the time for thematic paths that require almost no ascent on the trails and take us through lesser-known and less crowded hidden corners of our beloved Slovenia.

Yesterday we drove to Bela Krajina more precisely to the village Kanižarica and visited the museum of the brown coal mine Kanižarica and the mountaineering guide PD Črnomelj took us on the Miners' footpath, which was created in 1875, when the miners walked from the villages Butoraja and Zorenci to work in the mine. They walked like that until 1965, when they arranged transport for them. It takes about two hours to walk it. The mine closed in 1996, when they had the last excavation. They demolished the entire above-ground part of the mine, flooded the mine with water and sealed it. But a wonderful museum was created, which is a nice memory of the mine. There is now also a huge industrial zone in the area that employs many people.

This path is interesting. It runs past the pond, past both villages, past the stream where beavers are already active, past the old abandoned mill back to the village Kanižarica. The conclusion was here in the Štajdohar restaurant, which I warmly recommend. They cook well, they serve friendly.

Winter time is here and pensioner groups are looking for destinations where winter does not rule. So the section Pondeljkovci PD Škofja Loka went to the area of Brda, Vipava, Ajdovščina - along Gregorčič's path. It runs from Renče to Gradišče above Prvačina and across Rabatovec. It was designed by Ljuba Sivec - teacher.

We spiced it up a bit our way off-path. At the end we also visited Gregorčič's garden. I haven't seen such a collection of met yet. It was educational and interesting. On the boards, Gregorčič's poems full of longing accompanied us - it was nice.

Yesterday the Škofja Loka pensioners drove to the Šaleška end and did a thematic path around the Šaleška lakes. These are artificial lakes that were created as a result of mining. Sinkholes formed and water flooded them. Several entire villages disappeared under water. Around the lakes they arranged paths and equipped them with interesting content. They teach us about fish, butterflies, birds, the history of the lakes and much more. For walking around these lakes we will spend with stops and in between reading a bit on the panels a whole four hours.

On Thursday, February 23, the Četrkovci section of pensioners PD Škofja Loka did the Oslovega hrbta path. It runs through the Šavrinsko hills. The start is in the village Lopar, where we viewed the ethnographic collection in the village. Quite soon from the village past olive groves and vineyards the marked path with yellow markers turns into the thicket of Šavrinsko hills. We even crossed the entire Dragonja river. We finished the path in the village Marezige, where they even have a fountain of malvasia and refošk. Now this Mediterranean maquis would be called bare. But asparagus will be ready to pick here soon. The marked path with stops took us about four hours. It's nice to visit unknown somehow remote and unknown areas of our beautiful homeland.

Pensioners of UD Britof-Predoslje, we went to the sea. We walked along the European footpath E6 from Strunjan to Koper. We covered about 13km in four hours of course with obligatory stops at the cross, coffee in Izola and at the end there follows a quite long path to Koper along the coast. Otherwise we didn't have sun, but no rain either. We admired the coastal vegetation, studied numerous panels on the path, counted churches etc.

To me it seems that you walked only part of E6 and mostly on E12. On E6 you went only from Strunjan to Belvedere, there E6 continues above Jagodje to Kampel and Smarje, and further towards Marezige and Hrastovlje, E12 however descends to Izola and along the route of former Paranzana by the sea to Koper continues to Škofije and Trieste...

Yesterday we retirees of PD Škofja Loka section Četrkovci did the thematic path-Path of Three Churches. The path starts right in the center of Laško. Quite a steep path takes us to the first goal in the village Šmihel, where there is the church of St. Michael. Second goal is village Kuretno and church of St. Catherine, third is village Strmec and chapel of St. Christopher. You walk about four hours with stops. Descent to the town is also quite steep. It was dry, nice weather. In Laško we also viewed the museum and walked to the castle. Laško doesn't leave us indifferent-offers a lot of interesting things.

Could name it after churches of Škofja Loka hills. We visited one chapel yesterday with a hundred young Škofja Loka hikers. From Puštala-part of Škofja Loka-we set off to the village Sv. Andrej to the same-named chapel. In places the short uphill path through the forest is quite steep. At the chapel the kids had a quiz and also a short ceremony on the anniversary of the start of Škofja Loka young hikers. The president of PD Škofja Loka was present. The hike was attended by all primary schools of Škofja Loka with leaders of hiking clubs.

I could name this topic from church to church. But it's not quite so. Škofja Loka retirees visit and explore lesser-known, perhaps even somewhat neglected or forgotten corners of our beautiful and interesting beloved Slovenia. This time we went to the hill above our town Laško to the hill where the church of the Holy Trinity resides. There is also an energy park with healing points. Worth trying if it helps anything. After the descent back to Laško, we drove to see the once mighty monastery, of which even less remains. The worst blow to monasteries also in Slovenia was dealt by the Austro-Hungarian emperor Franz Joseph, who simply abolished most of them. Few in Slovenia survived. In the monastery complex, actually only the church, homestead and guardhouse survived. Behind the wall there is even a cemetery. But nowhere did I find where they buried the monastic brothers. The panel nicely describes the history of this monastery itself and it is very interesting.
Start in the village Lahov graben across the stream Gračnica.1
2
To the chapel of Holy Trinity.3
Across the meadow.4
Through the forest.5
The path is nicely maintained.6
There are benches too.7

There is also the energy park Svete Trojice.12
These energy points look like this.13
Our fire station.14
Descent to the valley past the hunting lodge at Govce - 550 m a.s.l.15
This just can't be missing.16
We also went to see the Carthusian monastery in Jurklošter. On the board I find as many as 20 churches. It would take a whole week to find them all.17
Of the Carthusian monastery itself very little remains - mostly ruins.18
Of the mighty complex of the Carthusian monastery, the church of St. Maurice has actually survived as the central building.19
The sun was playing tricks on me.20
Guardhouse.21
Farmstead.22
I check everything - I didn't find any friars' graves.23
We had the conclusion here.24

On Saturday 13.01.2024, hikers of PD Škofja Loka went—mostly we are hikers of two retiree groups—Pondeljkovci and Četrkovci. On the way to Osredek we picked up hikers from our favorite PD. Start is of course as always from the village Osredek at the Godler homestead. Here at the end of the hike there is also an organized hot snack—always sauerkraut and half sausage. They also offer tea, juice and wine. Of course you pay the entry fee. We set off on the path with the flag. Quite soon we reach the start of the path to Veliki vrh, where there is the monument of the Slovenian tolar. The path is quite steep. This year no snow, the path was frozen, dry. There were just over a hundred hikers. At the top Zdravljica is sung. Back this time we went a bit differently—even past a farm where the livestock is outside. But it's well taken care of—looked in excellent condition. In between we were at the KS Osredek home wonderfully treated with homemade goodies, tea and mulled wine—extremely praiseworthy. Somehow in two hours you reach the starting point, where they serve hot snack, coffee, tea, juice and wine.

Yesterday hikers of DU Medvode visited Peričnik waterfall and went on the thematic path of the Triglavska Bistrica river. It starts in Mojstrana and runs above the bed of the mountain river, which gurgles deep below. The path is marked with large marks. Attraction on the path are the overhangs. It goes past Spodnji Poldov rovta—this is supposed to be some name for a mini mountain pasture. For some time also along the road. It also crosses a watercourse. At higher water level of Bistrica this would almost not be possible. We also turned into the head of Vrata valley. Back to Mojstrana the bus took us. We viewed the mountain museum. For groups the price per person is 6 euros. There is something to see—very interesting. First time I viewed this our mountain museum. Outside they placed a retired bivouac. Good day! Well, yesterday Pondeljkovci section hikers PD Škofja Loka finally did the path or tour that falls under this title. We did the circular hiking path—Lom is my home. First of all one would ask where that even is. In the inn or tourist farm in the village Široko the friendly innkeepers explained to me that we are in Primorska. How to even get there. Yes, from Most na Soči turn on a fairly narrow uphill road I would say towards the village Tolminski Lom. There then turn to village Široko and at the inn is the starting point for the circular hiking Lom is my home. On this circular path about four hours long it takes us past a bunch of attractions. These are gorges, Martin homestead, church of St. Primož and Felicijan, Periunica and chapel of Andrej Murovec, Arne blacksmith, Močilo na kalu, Mary chapel, border stone, abyss in Špile. We split into three groups somehow. I led the middle one. I even missed the Tratar cheese dairy. Other attractions I saw with my group and also photographed. At the tourist farm Široko they served us an abundant hot snack. So good we haven't eaten for a long time—very praiseworthy—rating can only be five. Of course without some party for birthday no go. Our Tonček celebrated and treated us abundantly. We had a wonderful time.

The Monday folks - retirees section of PD Škofja Loka went again on the beautiful autumn path - Sreča Kosovelova Path - From Sežana to Tomaj. We start right in the center of Sežana and soon we are on a gravel path that leads us first to the medieval archaeological site. There was a fortification from the Middle Ages. From the overgrown hill we descended past Brezna by the tunnel under the railway track further on the nice forest path past the village of Šmarje to the village of Tomaj. There is also Srečko Kosovel's homestead - museum, but you have to book separately for a visit. In the wine cellar in the middle of the village we bought quite some wine and drove to a well-deserved hot snack in Sežana. We had a nice, although in places very windy day. We were properly blown by the real Karst bora. I've been here years ago, but it's always nice to return to this beautiful corner of Slovenia.
