Today we drove to the village of Ocizla, where the Tiger Memorial circular trail starts.
The trail is nicely marked with a yellow circle and is suitable for everyone. There are many interesting things along the trail, it's worth climbing to the village of Beka and to the church of St. Mary Magdalene as well.

The retirement group DU Medvode went on this trail on 19.11.2024. About ten days ago, my assistant Jani and I went on a reconnaissance. I hadn't been here before at least. Like on the reconnaissance, the trail was dry. There was almost no water, so almost no waterfalls. Because of viewing the waterfalls, it would be worth doing this trail in spring, when there is certainly much more water. It was interesting. At least I would return here early in spring.
Let's go.1
This shows the Tiger circular trail. For this trail, without breaks, we might take only two hours.2
3
The path is appropriately and accurately marked throughout - it shows us all the bends.4
Hiking trails are marked with a yellow circle.5
Marked really well - not everywhere is like that.6
Rest opportunity, but only in dry conditions.7
Along the Luza stream there is no trace of water, nor is its source visible.8
Here is a mini stepped waterfall, unfortunately without water.9
Little bridge.10
11
Ruins of Malnar's mill.12
Descent into the ravine.13
Waterfall in Žlebina.14
This is a waterfall. It had enough water.15
Next comes a visit to the village Beka. However, it is not necessary to view the village.16
Little church in the village. We staged the noon bell-ringing. Good that there were no people in the village.17
The village was burned in the Second World War. The occupiers were merciless.18
Water is flowing, but I didn't taste it. I don't like that karst water.19
We return back down to the path continuation - some two hundred meters on asphalt.20
Again on pleasant little paths that I like best. And they were dry too.21
At cave 53.22
I don't know Globene.23
At Jurjeva Cave.24
25
Miškotova Cave. You can even climb into it and emerge into the light on the other side. We didn't want to try that.26
27
Maletova Cave with a waterfall. Unfortunately, the waterfall was just a weak trickle.28
That's it.29
Blažev rock shelter.30
31
In the dell is Ociska Cave - Korošca. We didn't descend. Maybe some other long day.32
It is hidden down here in the thicket.33
Option to choose the path.34
Memorial.35
Stone bridge.36
Concreted remains from WWI, otherwise we would get our legs wet.37
Taverne.38
Bunkers.39
Shooting trenches.40
Last Cumpet waterfall - unfortunately without water.41
42
Water intake.43
History - well.44
We also visited that day the Mali Kras settlement high above the sea.45
That is another story for another time.46
And this nice little horse for goodbye.47

You still haven't clarified what is a tavern and what is a cavern (pic. 38)zmeden

Interesting! More likes for pointing out a tiny mistake than praise for preparing and posting a nice and interesting contribution. zmeden
Velkavrh, don't get too angry. There are quite a few of us who happily read and admire your interesting posts! nasmeh

velkavrh still types fast with 10 fingers as he learned in high school and every now and then a mistake sneaks in. God help, you really pick on every mistake of his. And actually here I agree with Viharnik- instead of praise we count his mistakes. Not right! Because most of us up here have posted a million times less information, even if maybe they don't come in handy for us yet, but someday anyway..

I think such things are best resolved with a private message.

I'm always grateful for pointing out mistakes. With age I've really become careless-but I try. Currently I lead and co-lead tours for four retirement groups. Leading at PD I've given up every now and then. For next year, however, I'll be an assistant on three tours. Have a nice time!

One more thing. These are pics from the reconnaissance tour. On the guided tour I forgot my mobile in the bus, so no pics of those. But I'll return here alone in spring when there will be more water.

Well, I returned here again with PD Rašica Ljubljana. With them I went on Saturday 01.02.2025. But we went somehow differently than usual. At the sign that directs us to the caves, turn right and reach the caves from the other side, so you start viewing the caves backwards and the cave signs are of course placed backwards. That completely confused me and I was still in the middle of the column, so those behind kept urging me and I couldn't accurately photograph neither the caves nor the cave signs at all. Where you reach the caves we of course came out on asphalt. Here we crossed the road and headed to Novi Kras from the other side. We encountered a herd of cattle and also a herd of horses. We arrived at Novi Kras quite to the right. From the ruins of Novi Kras then to Socerb. At Socerb the club served us a snack-prosciutto, fresh bread, wine. Then we went back to the village of Ocizlo. It takes more than an hour to walk. Altogether it added up to about five hours of walking. But that would be too much walking for retirement groups. I like going on tours with PD Rašica Ljubljana -they really have a good program of hikes or tours for this year.
Small cave on the path.1
In the hamlet Ocizla.2
Kapniki.3
We go through the village.4
The usual path goes to the right, but we turned left.5
The path goes below the little church.6
A bit gravelly.7
We will view the caves from the other side.8
Now it's full of teloh, only there is no fragrance.9
Straight on.10
11
You reach the caves from the other side, so you see the cave name when you are actually already past it.12
13
There was a lot of water on this path.14
This cave is somehow the most beautiful.15
You can even descend to the cave and go a little further into it in the dark.16
17
18
The caves were nearby. Unfortunately I was in the middle of the group and couldn't photograph the caves well.19
Now we go to Mali Kras.20
A little also on gravel.21
Past grazing cattle.22
Past a herd of horses.23
On the Italian side.24
25
Italian path signs.26
We have arrived at the edge.27
Tržaški zaliv is visible.28
29
We go to Mali Kras.30
Here we are.31
Here are ruins of buildings from times around the year 600.32
33
We go to Socerb.34
Socerb.35
36
The local was unfortunately closed.37
Where to go - there are many paths.38
We go back to the starting point of our trail in the village Ocizlo.39
The cave was of course locked.40
The path back to the starting point was quite long.41
But it is marked.42
Just a little further and we reach the bus.43
It was unique. I would repeat this tour.44
