To the mountains with public transport?

Hello everyone! Since I was left without a car for the weekend, but the mountains are calling, I'm looking for some smart advice on how to get to starting points in the Alps by public transport. I'm from Ljubljana, I optimistically thought we have these things well organized here, but I see it's not even The Bled-Pokljuka bus for example runs 2x a day Tell me, is the idea even feasible in practice, and even on weekends?

Saturday, 9.8., first bus from Ljubljana to Mojstrana (Dovje stop) leaves at 5.30am, you're there at 7.12am. Then just walk from there to (Vrtaško) Sleme. Return has last bus at 19.36pm, so plenty of time for the tour and after it. Or go further to Rute (Martuljek) and go to Rutarski Vršič, direct on foot from the village. Or go even further and get off in Kranjska Gora and go to Ciprnik, circular possible. Whatever goes public transport, but I don't dare guess how crowded the buses are and how with tickets (buy in advance, buy on bus?)

Aha, I always went in the morning with the first one, return at five or six and no problem for a free seat, so luckily I haven't had bad experiences yet. I'll check the day after tomorrow.

In Bohinj it's worth using their transports (no longer free, 2 euros valid 24h, purchase only online), we used them several times for mountains and beach, can be combined. It also drives to Pokljuka and Blato. Or train to Boh. Bistrica and then on with their buses to start or ascent from there to Črna prst and descent to Podbrdo and back by train (or reverse). A few years ago the bus to Tržič was useful for me (start for Kriška gora, Dobrča, Kofce,...), and to Jezersko (Češka koča, Virnikov Grintavec, Goli vrh, Veliki vrh), don't know how often it runs on weekends now. Interesting combo also train to Zasavje and from one station ascent to Kum (and with bike across Sava), and descent to valley at another station. Probably this is more useful during the week, not in summer. OK, not the Alps. It's possible, I did it regularly when I didn't have license and car, even multi-day tours. Often markings start nicely at the station. Good luck!
