Is anyone going touring tomorrow? I'm a beginner in this field, so I'd like to join at least at the start of the route for better orientation. Lp Matjaz

I'm also thinking about buying ski touring gear, so can someone advise what all we need for such an endeavor, especially what skis, bindings, boots,... I'm 180 cm tall and weigh 78 kg. I'll be grateful for any advice. Thanks

Above all, consider: new gear is pig expensive, used can be very very cheap. And for a beginner more than satisfactory. Greetings and good luck

Of course we'll go on tour, just don't know where yet, in "high" mountains avalanche risk and cold too, so need something sunny. For used gear check ads, suggest turni-klub-gora or gore-ljudje.net. For new gear any experienced shop can advise, so no purchase issues. Forum helps, but last resort.

"matjaz1", think Igor already gave you most answer where to look for used touring gear. Fact is everyone praises their own gear, boots,... Try, boots for long time, must "fit" foot. This year got new Hagans 79€ +6€ shipping from Germany, so findable. Just be "nosy" and persistent. If more, send PM. LP Andrej

For starters, classic skis (a bit wider) work too, length approximately equal to height, bindings must be dedicated for touring skiing. Boots recommended dedicated (can borrow in shops). Don't forget safety gear. LP. MK

Skins can also be classic and they probably won't bother you, at least if you don't walk long on foot.

I'm at the start of the touring alphabet, so a course would come in handy, interested in how it is here.

This post on Preverjeno is quite populist and has no great "educational" value... Pity, as there was a show on RTV Protection from snow avalanches, scheduled twice but given the conditions and victims this year RTV didn't promote it at all... There is no such show in the archive to watch it calmly when one has time.

Yes, yes, but on Preverjeno we could watch and listen to among others the former Triglavski!

I also watched the educational show, of which there should be more in the future, especially at the start of winter and not at the end, when avalanches have already fatally taken some mountaineers. For safety against avalanches let me say that today's novelties for purchase don't provide complete protection against avalanches at all, but only some % chance of lucky survival. It's known that against larger avalanches we have almost no chance of rescue from avalanches, because they grind and break you on the way down to unrecognizability. Bor from K2 shop also described the event to me in Bobnarjev plaz, when it ground a known alpinist with new deep snow. In any case I think that the guideline for safe touring in proper movement and correct ascent direction is key, together with observing the stability test of the snow cover on the tour. Bor says that a person-alpinist is foolish twice in his career. Once when young and once when old. How many old top alpinists he lost, because like seasoned cats in much lower, so-called home mountains, they neglected the most basic rules and regulations for safe movement of mountaineers in mountains. Let me praise Igor in the TV piece as a mountaineer example to all, as well as excellent guide and knower of mountain paths. That ABS doesn't suit him at all. It looked like some scarecrow and unnecessary gimmick in the reflection of his experienced eyes.
