Beginner who tried this sport last year with borrowed gear... ...now I've decided to buy my own. Since the offer is what it is, market competition does its thing, my wallet sings as I whistle, it just happened that I'll buy gear in different shops. Now dilemma: buy boot first and then suitable bindings or vice versa? Personally, comfort, i.e., boot fit is more important to me Any advice welcome (even completely off-topic ). Thanks, lp

You'll have to buy all three at once, because one without the other just doesn't go, neither for hiking nor skiing . Some boot brands have both, grooves for Dynafit and classic touring bindings, some brands only for certain bindings. You have to know what you want, so what bindings and corresponding boots. Equipment sellers will advise best, but the boot must "fit" as they say, because everything ahead depends on boot comfort. So start with boots .

Hi, sorry for maybe a bit weird question from inexperienced, but anyway: does alpine boot fit on touring binding (standard)? Thanks for answers

Alpine boots on alpine bindings, touring on touring, otherwise it doesn't go.

of course it goes otherwise.. I don't know for all bindings but on my Marker Tour F10 alpine boot definitely fits too..

When I came back from military service, where we skied with hiking boots, I liked it so much that I skied for several years with Alpine boots and touring bindings. The servicer shook his head when I brought him the boots and touring bindings, but then it worked without any problems. Of course I had shorter skis (1.5 m), which weren't in fashion then, because it was still the rule that skis must be at least 20 cm longer than your height. So, many things fit. On classic touring bindings with toe piece in front for sure. But what's the point of it, Lobnican will know himself.

Only maybe on Marker, but you'd have to shim under the alpine boot sole, touring ones are generally higher in the sole due to rubber. Otherwise whoever will do touring skiing shouldn't skimp on gear, because when preparing to clip into the binding on a steep mountain section, the boot must have rubber on the bottom for grip in the snow, as well as when ascending on foot to the summit.

And do Silvretta bindings fit too?

Lobnican- we can hardly tell you anything, because we don't even know which binding model it is. I have a feeling you're buying used gear, and want to sneak through the first season with alpine boots or something?

Best is to go with boots to Annapurna and Rok will tell you if it can be compensated somehow.
