Training for Tour Cycling Guides

The Touring Cycling Commission (KTK) is announcing the following two trainings in 2011:
– training for Touring Cyclist Guide I and
– training for Touring Cyclist Guide II.
The trainings are intended for all those who would like to lead cycling trips into the mountains within mountaineering societies, other organizations or as independent sports workers. The training program is approved by the Sports Council of the Republic of Slovenia and is the basis for obtaining the title of professional sports worker 1 or 2.
The training program consists of two parts:
• cycling-technical part (2 days)
• guiding part (4 days)
In the first part, attention is given to riding technique and bike servicing; on the test tour we check the physical and technical abilities of candidates for further guiding training. A theoretical entrance exam from the Mountaineering School program will also be conducted (exempt from the exam are all those who have passed the mountaineering school or other PZS training forms that include the same content).
In the second part of the training, the emphasis is on guiding knowledge such as group leading, orientation, providing first aid etc. The training concludes with a theoretical exam and an exam tour. Lectures will be followed by a lot of practical work on the slopes below Stol.
The first part of the training will be held on 11 and 12 June 2011 at Mozirska Hut on Golte, the second part from 30 June to 3 July 2011 at Valvazor Hut below Stol.

Application deadline is 20.5.2011 or until places are filled. The price of the trainings is 290 €, which includes meals and accommodation, organizational costs and accident insurance for participants.
