Traverse of the Grintovci

Today my colleague Marko and I took advantage of the wonderful weather for the Grintovci traverse: Kamniška Bistrica - Kamniško sedlo - Brana - Turska gora - Skuta - Štruca - Dolgi hrbet - Kokrško sedlo - Kamniška Bistrica. It was 21 km of pure mountain-running pleasures. I recommend it!

You must be kidding, dude, calling this ''traverse of Grintovci''

I know and nowhere did I say we ran over all Grintovci. But Jožka, I suggest you come up with a better but still short enough title yourself. It would be very cluttered if I used the following very accurate title: Kamniška Bistrica - Kamniško sedlo - Brana - Turska gora - Skuta - Štruca - Dolgi hrbet - Kokrško sedlo - Kamniška Bistrica

On Sunday (14th) I spent the whole day wandering the Grintovci. From Kamniška Bistrica to Kokrško sedlo, then across Dolce past the bivouac to Kokrško and Jezersko Kočno. Then across Dolška škrbina to Grintovec, onward across Mlinarsko sedlo to Dolgi hrbet, Štruca, Skuta, across Male Pode to Turska gora, Brana and across Kamniško sedlo back to start. First part of the tour was quite foggy, windy and cold. On Skuta it poured too. 'Čebele' luckily didn't buzz. Second part super nice. Didn't need ice axe, snowfields can be bypassed.
Need plenty of water. I ran out.
Our Grintovci are beautiful, beautiful.
Kokrška Kočna. Quite cold, wind and fog above 2300 m.1

Bravo, congratulations! But how much time did you need for this traverse? And what's with the path to Skuta, isn't it closed?

If it's closed, that doesn't mean it's with a padlockwink

Around 13:00. The path to Skuta from SE-W direction is definitely closed. From W-direction (Veliki podi, Štruca or DH) it's ok.

Did you go over Sleme to the other side towards Turska?
Super tour

Is there any snow around the bivouac on Mali podi, or do you have to go higher to find it?

No snow around bivouac. From Kokrško sedlo to Skuta you step on snow a bit below Dolgi hrbet: 3m traverse of softened and foot-hardened snow, no problems or need for winter gear.

Thanks for the pic, I see there are patches. I was interested in water, if I go up for two days.

Pleasant weather forecast and long day lured me to the Grintovci ridges. From Kamniška Bistrica to Cojzova koča and on to Grintovec. Along the north ridge to Mlinarsko sedlo and then to Dolgi hrbet. Onward past Štruca to Skuta, Turska gora and Brana. Then to quench at Kamniško sedlo and back to start. No dangerous snowfields on this path anymore. Snow still lies in hollows. Markings and fixed protection renewed on Dolgi hrbet path. Loose rock as always, big. Not recommended for running.

Top tour. Quite long, so need to "step well" for it. No water in between, right? How's the passage over the landslide from Dolška škrbina a bit below Grintovec? Congratulations.

You can't go to Grintovec via Dolška. It's closed. And as I saw, it's still sad.
Shortly below the summit of Skuta towards Turska, there's a rock with some pegs and 'zajlo' that sounds so hollow again it gave me chills. And right at the spot where the path was already closed when a big rock was hanging nailed to the 'zajlo'...
