If I wanted to briefly describe Greenland, I would use key words: fairy tale, eternity, endless whiteness, color contrasts, eternal ice, friendliness, mystery... Stepping onto this end of the world was my dream. This year it came true not only for me but surely for all other members of our team. Thanks to Damjan, we discovered hidden corners of the south of this country and covered about 165km (up-down-around). We climbed to peaks where probably few people go, namely 685m high Qaqquasuaq and 823m high Nuuluk. The greenery of the meadows we crossed was interrupted by colorful inserts of blue, yellow, white flowers and scarlet sorrel, which on Greenland has exactly the same taste as at home and served us as a supplement to our diet. Likewise their dandelion. The turquoise blue of the fjords is sprinkled with white slabs and icebergs. From the tops, it looked like someone had shaken bits of cotton over the water surface. Looking at the oldest, blue-colored ice masses, our breath stopped. Actually, up there your breath stops at the sight of everything... misty veiled mornings, intensity of colors when the sun gives the sky to the moon, dark silhouettes of mountains in nights that are by no means as dark as ours, but beautifully starry. We felt how nice it is to live only with nature and from it. Without noise, rushing... Friendly locals are a chapter of their own. When meeting a foreigner, their lips spread into a smile and they utter their hey.. from the smallest child to those whose faces show all their history. It was unforgettable.

Beautiful unpopulated eternal landscape, balm for the soul!. What are the temperatures there and what do locals eat, probably quite a lot of fish, tourism there probably isn't either?. Thanks for answers.

Viharnik, it really is a beautiful country. Real balm for the soul. There is little tourism, but I suspect that this largest island will soon be flooded with it too, as it's a real paradise for kayakers, canoeists, hikers, ski tourers. Temperatures are very varied... in summer they reach just under +20, mornings are cold, evenings too. Just like with us end of March, April. Sun is strong, wind too. Luckily we didn't experience it. Locals eat fish and lamb, grow potatoes.

Ksena, you described our Greenland trip excellently. As a guide it was one of my best trips. After ten years I stepped again on this part of the world that has fascinated me for over a decade and hope this wasn't my last trip to southern Greenland. Besides experiencing spectacular nature, trekking in Greenland was a journey into oneself. Greenland is just a cold version of paradise.

Damixy, twice I was with you in the northern hemisphere and both Iceland and Greenland are lands that have truly fascinated me. You are anyway dedicated to those destinations. Good luck on next treks up there and of course....at least such travelers as our group was.
