Triglavska Bistrica Trail

I hiked the path from Mojstrana to the end of Vrata Valley many times as an elementary and high school student. Back then, I didn't notice anything "beautiful" on it - it was just a "necessary evil" that we "non-motorized" had to walk to the starting point for Triglav, Stenar and other two-thousanders rising above the valley. Yesterday, however, with my family in these "dog-hot" days, we found pleasant cool shade on the Triglavska Bistrica Trail and an opportunity for a wonderful, leisurely "stroll". The trail is enlivened by numerous natural sights of the valley, which are commendably marked and explained with information boards. We started with viewing the lower and upper Peričnik waterfall and a pleasant "refreshment" behind them, and continued along the bed of Triglavska Bistrica and later high above it all the way to Aljažev dom. Although we "mentally" prepared for weekend crowds, it wasn't big already at Peričnik, on the Triglavska Bistrica valley trail you could count those who went on foot on the fingers of one hand. If you go to visit the trail with curious kids and "explorers", the walking time from Peričnik to Aljažev dom can stretch from the "normed" two hours to three or even more. We recommend it to everyone who avoids strenuous ascents in hot summer days, but still wants to "move a bit", enjoy peace and experience the "taste" of high mountains, even from the valley nasmeh.

Wonderful path where we were accompanied by rain, a bit of sun and on the way back briefly also Babja jeza. On the last part of the path it was not possible to cross Bistrica due to increased flow. In this case you can continue the path along the road to Aljažev dom. On the way back also to Peričnik. In rainy weather it's really something special. Lots of waterrrr...

Today we went on this pleasant path. The path runs along the left bank of Triglavske Bistrice in pleasant shade. We reach the left bank via a small bridge. Before Peričnik waterfall again over a small bridge to the road on the right side of Triglavska Bistrica. Of course, don't miss the waterfall view - at least the lower one. From Peričnik waterfall we went some time along the road and then turned left onto this path. Something special are the galleries that we also see at Peričnik waterfall. We pass a couple of Rovtov, which were once like sub-alpine pastures for livestock grazing. First they grazed livestock here, then went higher to real alpine pastures. Finally after about an hour and a half we reach Vrata. We can even climb a bit on that boulder by the chapel.
Start of the path at the footbridge on the left bank of the stream.1
Along the path are interesting educational signs. Here we get to know characteristic birds of this area - among others the nightjar.2
3
Animals that live here - among others the woodland grouse - I haven't seen it yet.4
Above the Peričnik waterfall the path directs us left onto the galleries (ledges).5
6
Before that we pass by two ditches. This is Smukavčev rovt.7
Lower Tilešov rovt.8
These are those galleries.9
They are like some huge rock shelters.10
This path is generally little visited. Everyone drives with vehicles to Vrata. But today there were many of us - pensioners and youth.11
Spodnji Poldov rovt.12
On this path we are also taught about many other things.13
About anthills.14
About Kopišča. Even in the 19th century the main product of forests was charcoal, which was mainly obtained from beech wood.15
Erosive activity of the river. During high waters the river undercuts the banks and the bed widens greatly.16
Over the footbridge.17
Hummocky meadows. These hummocks are a consequence of glacier action.18
We are again at the largest rovt - Ancelnov rovt, which is already quite a large meadow.19
A little firefighting picture.20
So we are at the gate in front of the hut.21
22
To Triglav we won't go this time.23

Today after shift, started the trail at Aljažev dom, went to viewpoint under Triglav, back on foot to Dovje. Under Triglav pleasantly cool, snowfield is quite big. From Aljažev dom to Mojstrana whole trail ok, except two fallen trees which aren't big obstacles. Lp
