trip of 2 or 3 days with scouts

Hi We are going on vacation in slovenia/kroatie with the scouts (9 people), and as every vacation of scouts we make a trip in the mountains of 2 or 3 days. Therefore we need a good trip (safe and beautiful) but the problem is that I don't really know slovenia, so I was wondering if anyone could help us by giving advice about a good trip of 2 or 3 days. We have tents, and we are average walkers (not slow, not fast). Can anyone give us advice or recommend a trip? Thanks in advance, all advice is welcome. Andreas

My vote goes to Planina Blato - Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih (http://www.hribi.net/izlet/planina_blato_koca_pri_triglavskih_jezerih_cez_prode/1/133/110). The route is easy, marked and 3.5 h long. Next days you can visit also other lakes. The route is easy, marked and 3.5 h long. Next days you can visit also other lakes.

Welcome to Slovenia! First, if you don't know the mountain area in the Julian Alps, I recommend first buying the necessary mountain map. Then it is better to ask the nearest mountain guide association for the detailed path where you decide to go. Tents are prohibited for use because of Triglav National Park, where they are allowed only in a few places, for example Bled-Zaka camp, Bohinj-Ukanc camp, but if you have a good bivouac sleeping bag with you, you can comfortably spend the night in winter rooms near mountain huts or in them. Tours on these mountains and peaks are multiple, but this time they require all winter equipment on higher places on mountains because there is still lots of snow on them. Lower down to 2000 m, especially on south areas, paths are mostly under summer conditions and easy to approach. I suggest the mountains near Bohinj Lake. They are not difficult and snow-free. First day: go to the Pokljuka highland at Runo polje 1340 m by car, then climb through Konjščica, higher Jezerce 1720 m and Studorski preval. There you can go to Veliki Draški vrh 2243 m or a little farther on the south grass area to Tosc 2275 m and end the day at Vodnikov dom mountain hut. There you can sleep in the winter room, left (west) part of the house. Next day you can go through Mišeljska planina up to Jezerski preval on mountain Jezerski stog 2040 m and return down to Planina Jezerce and Planina Krstenica to Planina Blato, or go to Lazovski preval down to see beautiful Planina v Lazu, then go right in a circle through Planina Jezero and then Planina Blato. Next day you can go to see the Slovenian ski center with cable car on Vogel and make a nice day tour to the highest point Šija, 20 min higher than the ski top. One option is also a tour to the 1 h 30 min farther pyramid-shaped Rodica mountain 1966 m. For all these mountain trips it is necessary to have solid equipment (warmer clothes, gloves, cap, good shoes, first aid, sunglasses, ice pickel, cooker, food and so on). Paths are marked and visible, so you don't have to worry too much. I wish all of you a good trip on beautiful Slovenian mountains, now between winter heights and a lot of rosy green grass and forest round covered with blue sky and white clouds.

The second day, after reaching mountain Jezerski Stog 2040 m, you can prolong the trip to visit also Triglav double lake 1683 m to pass before Štapce pass 1851 m as suggested before by Karletto. To return to Bohinj, you can visit also the all-time open small comfortable mountain "hotel" Komna. There you can properly rest and get cooked food in the national Slovenian way. Near, 15 min away, is also another nice mountain highland with houses called Planina na Kraju, which was represented at I World War by Austro-Hungarian monarchy army as hinterland support area for "Germany" army, who combated on these mountains with Italy.

Now there all is peaceful and old stone houses are changed into nice mountain houses.

Heinz, if some prfoks read me, he would find, just like I now still find quite some written errors. Some English language I revived additionally later in the Sahaja yoga collective and trip to India. If I go abroad, I know enough that they just can't sell me.

Hi Viharnik, hi Karletto, congratulations on your suggestion, it's a really nice trip (could I say gorgeous?), I spent three days last year around this area driving and guiding some Italian friends from our Alpine Club, at the end of the trip everyone said: meraviglioso - marvellous!!!! Andreas, have nice days around Slovenian Alps.

Alessio, thanks!. It was just a fleeting post of a hint, where foreign hikers could symmetrically, as on the palm of the hand, enjoy the wonderful view of the three-headed peak Triglav from the south. Tomorrow though I head to your very beautiful western Julijce and even nicer laid-out paths around there!.

hi thank you for all the responses! but what we are looking for is a trip in the mountains that takes three days (without going back every day) so it's like this day one we walk and sleep in the mountains day two we walk in the mountains and sleep in the mountains day three we walk and arrive back at starting point or close to arriving point (without taking the same way as trip 1 I suppose) we don't need to see snow we just want to walk the mountains, we don't need any hotel (we use tents)

Tents are not allowed in Triglav national park except in official camping sites which are all in the valley. Sleeping is possible only in mountain huts, which will open fully in two weeks (all huts, some are already opened, like Komna and Kredarica).

This tour which I describe to you is exactly what you want. If you want to return to the same place, instead of going to Pokljuka-Runo polje, you start the tour in the valley Voje near Stara Fužina village. After 40 min of walking, you turn onto the right path and climb to Uskovnica. Then you continue passing Konjščica and Jezerce where you are standing on the tour which was told before. At last you go to visit Komna and the hotel, but go to the Triglav double lake with house. There the next day you return back through Štapce and turn right onto the highland called Pl. Ovčarija-Pl. Viševnik-Plešivec-Pl. Vogar and you finally come to Voje or Stara Fužina village. If you have good orientation and experience from the mountain, you can choose also plenty of other different options of daily tours. Goodbye!

Hi OK, I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood you, the trip you describe looks nice but it's Chinese for me ^^. Maybe it gets better when I have a map of those mountains. What I also wanted to ask is how much does it cost to sleep in those mountain houses, and do you need to reserve? Because we don't have a big budget.
