I've put away my skis for this year.. at least that's how it seems to me nasmeh

and pulled out the bike from mothballs. Goal: Trstelj, 643m high hill above Renče (Goriška). To Renče, then up Renški klanc to the top and right on the gravel road towards the goal. The gravel road is hard to ride in some places because they've dumped a lot of gravel, so in a couple of climbs the bike wouldn't go, I had to push it beside me nasmeh

. When the gravel road joined the macadam road used by those who drive to Trstelj by car or motorbike, there was still a good km ahead. To the hut I rode on mixed terrain....macadam - asphalt, from the hut onwards the path is quite torn up again, so I walked again. Views to the sea and the Julians, but not very clear. Soon I got back on the bike and rode towards Kostanjevica and continued through Lokvica, Miren back to N. Gorica.

Almost a month before last year's bike ride we went on a repeat of the already described tour. I'm attaching just a few photos.

On the Karst there is something to see and experience

Heavy clouds over Nova Gorica, clearing towards Karst. So decision wasn't hard. This time I biked to Trstelj from the other side than described in first two posts. Nova Gorica - Dornberk, then uphill to Železnih vrat and further on hiking trail to top of Trstelj. From Železnih vrat to summit I carried the bike for a while ...trail wasn't very friendly to my ride jezik

. Down I descended first few elevation meters same way up, then at marked junction turned left towards Renče. Gravel or forest trail to top of Renški klanc, then asphalt home. Nice loop tour.
