Yesterday into the sunshine on Primorska. We did a tour - Trstelj, Cerje, Mirenski grad. To Trstelj we went from the village Lipa. In an hour we were at Stjenkova hut on Trstelj. The caretaker awaited us and kindly served us. For a weekday visit you need to arrange separately. Then the Trstelj summit followed and we went back the same path to the start. From there we drove to Cerje. Cerje is a monumental monument-memorial to the defenders of Slovenian land. Designed as a seven-story tower-fortress. On the floors we follow the history of our land from prehistory to present days. Actually the collection is still being made. The view from the tower is fascinating. The path led us also to Mirenski grad. This is a 120m high dominant elevation on Mirna near Nova Gorica. There are buildings for a whole city. Two monasteries, church of the Sorrowful Mother of God and humanitarian organization - Association of Volunteers of Vincentian Association of Goodness reside here.

Today my wife and I headed to Trstelj, along the peaks of the Black Hills. Occasional snow flurry, on the top calm, no wind, sun in abundance. Nice, varied path, unfortunately blackberries overgrow some places, markings are fading. Some signposts at junctions wouldn't hurt either.

On 10.11.2019 I headed to Trstelj from Lipa village. No snow yet, the path is exemplarily maintained and marked.

A group of 50 hikers set out from Potok near Dornberk towards Trstelj. First group first to Stjenkova hut, a little refreshment and then along the ridge of the Black Hills to Cerje. After one and a half hours' ascent to the hut, we continued the path over all peaks, nicely marked, pleasant path, only blue sky and better views were missing. Towards Cerje finally some sun, it came to 14 km and a full 1,000 meters of ascent. Viewing the monument to defenders of Slovenian land. At Cerje we met the second group, which had an easier pace; after ascent to Stjenkova hut they descended to Lipa village and by bus to Cerje. Thus we satisfied all, those who want 2 hours walk as well as those who prefer 5-6 hours...

Trstelj offered one of the shorter hikes from the starting point
Železna vrata. Steep uphill, nice view from the top,
