Interesting. It's true they give (probably only with water) a similar result as new hiking and winter jackets and other clothes, until the impregnation is destroyed by washing and you must renew it regularly. They now sell some NANOPRO sprays that give miraculous results (I tried but not much different from normal). Waterproofness is the eternal problem of most hikers and their clothes.

Interesting thing, this coating. But the question is how breathable this material is. Because if not, under the protective layer it becomes a kind of small sauna.

I also think it's not breathable. Besides, when you use the shoe in snow, in my opinion the snow itself wears out this film pretty quickly.

I don't know if the trick is exactly in the film, but more in deep impregnation. Since it's sold as a liquid, that deep impregnation might be noticeable. I use a similar thing on my cabrio roof and it's great.
