V. Tičarica 1892 m (Trenta) and Čisti vrh

The year has come full circle and yesterday we took our 16-year-old to the Youth Mountaineering Camp again - this time to Trenta.
We chose V. Tičarica as the goal, which rises exactly 1300 m above the camp. Due to the agreed late arrival at camp, we started at Na skali by the lower barrier quite late, just before noon.
A pleasant and easy-to-follow path led us through Dol pod plazmi to the abandoned Planina v plazeh, where right after the hunting blind we turned left (across Utro).
Initially a well-visible path leads to a pronounced, quite damp valley full of mud. The numerous tracks in the mud show that wildlife comes here to drink, and also to wallow in the mud to cool off and get rid of parasites. That is why there are many small paths leading to and from it. We chose the passage along the right edge through lushly overgrown scree under the steep wall to the ridge.
Continuation off-trail (maybe a bit too far right), searching for passages, crossing steep meadows and "battling" with brushwood brought us to the grassy valley under Košutnik, where we again "trodden" the visible and brushwood-cleared path towards the summit of V. Tičarica.
The view from the top to Trenta is magnificent, views of surrounding peaks were prevented by low lumpy clouds. Afternoon thunderstorms were approaching...
Followed descent and crossing under the ridge of Košutnik and Šnite towards Čisti vrh, where in lush undergrowth and tall grasses the path disappeared a few more times. Still, we quickly reached the saddle under Čisti vrh and also got to it via Drt.
On the top the sun peeked out for a moment, but in Špičje and towards Vršič it thundered menacingly a few times. Quick descent on the old supply path to the start, where just while changing shoes, a thunderstorm raged above Soča.

Trenta solitude lured us again...(and it wasn't even that solitary as we expected  ...but more on that later...). We drive to the village Na skali and a bit further and park as usual at the first barrier. Today we aimed to find the unmarked path to the slightly higher neighbor of Čisti vrh, Velika Tičarica. We reach the pasture V Plazeh via the already known path, there we easily find the little path leading to our goal for today. At first we follow it successfully, then suddenly it "disappears" . We look around a bit and decide to continue on the well-visible chamois tracks...that seemed most path-like to us...but after a good half hour of knee-grinding it becomes clear to us that this ain't it...  ...We return to the place where we "lost" the path and search for continuation...step by step we check the surroundings...nothing...in the end, when we no longer knew how to proceed, we realize that the path, which turns left there, is hidden under a large fallen tree lying lengthwise exactly on it and covering it for 10-15 meters. We bypass the fallen tree and find the continuation of the path, which we then follow without trouble. In the last part we expected "bashing" through bushes, but the passages are so nicely laid out that if you "hit" them, there are no problems at all. Meanwhile it got properly cloudy, so views weren't perfect, but still wonderful. We make a couple of phone calls and the "Bovec intelligence" really works like a charm  , so we learn that fellow forumite Velesa is wandering around here too. We get her phone, call her and agree that if nothing else, we'll meet at the cars. We couldn't help but continue to Čisti vrh on this wonderful day. About halfway down we meet Velesa who was returning from Velika Tičarica and together we head to the valley, then in Trenta we toast the successful tour and new acquaintance .

I also decided yesterday to enjoy the Trenta solitude, which turned into pleasant company.
I start at the first barrier above the village Na skali. First on the path, then I look for shortcuts. At the pasture V Plazeh I find the path leading to Velika Tičarica above Trenta. But when I reach the mud where there are only animal tracks, I lose the path. I look for it for a while, unsuccessfully. I decide to go to Čisti vrh first, which a well-visible path takes me to.
After great enjoyment I set off to search for the path to Tičarica. I wander up and down, then decide to go along the ridge. Oh boy - I shouldn't have! I got into bushes. Wandering through them is quite laborious. I had no idea where the real path was - only the direction was known. But it got more pleasant when I hear an unknown voice on the phone - GITA with company ! The lucky ones are already on Tičarica, I'm still looking for the right path. Yeah, in this area the terrain is well trodden by wildlife. Finally I choose a well-visible one, which later turns out not to be the right one. It leads me past the top of Tičarica. What now? No choice but to turn right into the steep slope - again through bushes. Well, that's an experience too, even if laborious. Finally I step onto Tičarica, but Gita was gone. Soon I descend hoping to find the path to the V Plazeh pasture - in vain. So I go towards Čisti vrh and reach the known path. I catch up with Gita and company. The rest of the way goes smoothly and the drink went down very well.

As many times before, today it proved again that you don't need to go high for views, but today we had to put in some effort, hehe. We drive towards Vas na Skali and leave the car at the first ramp, continue on the road and soon right into the forest and despite the unmarked path we almost missed Čisti vrh . So we decide for the ascent to Velika Tičarica and here the fun begins, yuhu. Descent from ČV, and at the lower clearing right, where there was no path, lots of goat tracks, so we search for the best passages and avoid brushwood and a bit below the summit we find the path and the top was ours...initial descent ok, then right at junction to path that leads directly to planina v Plazeh, hmmmm, path hid again soon, later suddenly on it again, then disappears again, so to planina our way. From there to start the search challenges disappear. For two summits today effort, will and nose were needed, especially for the second, but they rewarded us with fairy-tale views, wind calmed, sun warmed and despite cold it was just right for picnic...it was really nice, fun autumn day

Yesterday I visited Čisti vrh and Velika Tičarica.
At the first barrier above the village at Skali I left the car. About two km on the right road, then shortcuts that cross the road several times, to planina v Plazeh.
There I spent quite some time looking for the continuation of the path towards Velika Tičarica,  but I didn't find it. So I decided to go straight on the road and then on the path to the saddle Čez Drt. The path is well visible, towards the saddle there are more and more larches getting autumn colors.
From the saddle Čez Drt to Čisti vrh just a couple of minutes. Views from the top are wonderful  . The summit has a summit book.
Towards Velika Tičarica I went more my own way. Sometimes I followed a path that was lost the next moment. The most reliable sign that I was on the right path were sawn branches, probably hunters' work.
Again I hesitated where to start the ascent to the actual summit of Velika Tičarica. I found some tracks on a clearing. To the top then no problems, the path is nicely cut through the brush.
From the top Trenta is far below the feet, Bavški Grintavec incredibly close. All around a wreath of wonderful peaks and you don't know what to look at .
Return to the previously mentioned clearing, where I then found also the path towards planina Pod Plazmi. But the path was lost soon again, or rather split into many tiny paths, so to the planina I arrived again more my own way.
Wonderful tour for lovers of solitude. We will surely lose the path many times and find it again. Maybe for someone who misses the path too often the tour will even be a bit annoying, but probably this is the price for peace, solitude and wilderness

On this day I headed to Velika Tičarica and Čisti vrh. Start at sharp left bend, a bit on road, a bit on shorter hunting paths. When I arrive at planina V Plazeh I find path, follow to muddy clearing, then left find path (at that muddy clear.), follow it to Velika Tičarica. At top nice weather and beautiful views. Descend, go as low as possible to grassy clearing, then horiz. continue and later come to path leading to Čisti vrh, follow to top and here too views all around. Here take about 1 hour observing hills, mountains, eat something, drink, then descend back to planina and back to start.

Already during my first visit five years ago, I thought that this wasn't my last at the same time. On the contrary, I'm more and more convinced that I'll always take advantage of every opportunity that arises to climb up there again. And yesterday it did.
First we climbed V. Tičarica, which doesn't even reach 1900m, but it opens wide views to the rock giants, some of which can't be correctly named at a glance, as they show us a different appearance each time. Everything is close, hardly anything is far.
Almost within reach is Bavški Grintavec, which is incredibly close, with a particularly beautiful appearance, elegant; I especially like it from this side.
The summit is quite spacious; if you step around a bit, you can also look at Pl. v Plazeh.
We took quite a long time on the summit for admiring it, but in the meantime the summits wrapped themselves in clouds, probably so that we return.
I think V. Tičarica is a much better viewpoint than Čisti vrh; well, yesterday that certainly held.
We checked the possibility of descent to Ravni dol, which would be the ideal plan for next time. Or even better, ascent via it.

The larches were still glowing. In Ravni dol and on Plazjanski Vršac and on Čisti vrh and on Velika Tičarica. Searching for passages through brush and a path that appears and disappears but found all.

Even Velika Tičarica above Trenta is not often on hikers' radar, its lower neighbor Mala Tičarica (1798 m) probably rarely sees anyone. No path, terrain demanding and hard to pass, full of some holes and pits, brush and fallen trees. Anyway, something for me.
Leave car before barrier and walk to Planina v Plazeh (ca 5.5 km). Map says there is also a shortcut in between, but it seemed faster on the trodden path. At Planina a short break then straight up. The hill steepens a bit, but full of nice passages and holds, so not too hard after all; if someone doesn't like it too much, with a little extra time investment and detouring to the left, they can reach the top also on flatter terrain.
On the way there was everything - a sunlit slope, just a bit ahead a meter-deep snow drift (of course I stepped right into it, eh.. luckily I had gaiters), then a bit of trudging through 30 cm snow, below the summit also locally icy, just enough that every third or fourth step broke through, and just a few meters away sunny and completely dry patches... No special equipment needed, except the aforementioned gaiters.
For the descent I chose another path, with the idea that if I went more diagonally, it would be a bit less steep and easier, but I probably just complicated the path for myself, because it was nothing but pleasant trudging over dwarf pines, it just took a bit longer than going directly down.
Due to the late start and long approach, night caught me, so on the way back, lost in my thoughts, I was slowly and quietly walking along the road when a badger almost ran into me. I don't know who of us was more stunned and surprised. For a moment we eyed each other, then it already scurried off into the undergrowth.

Consequences of the abundant snow cover this winter are visible already quite soon; bent trees, broken spruce tops here and there hinder movement and orientation on the path. The compacted snow cover starts somewhere at the first crossing of the forest road. From here on one walks on scree under Špičje, the crossing to the left to the forest road a bit below the planina is strongly hindered by a large area of criss-cross windthrown trees. The crossing was heavily difficult; even some roe deer fell in between, so the local withdrew instead. From here to the top there were no more obstacles, the snow mostly still bore our weight also then on the crossing to Tičarica. The weather was anyway fantastic and warm.

Really solitary Trenta panoramic peaks. I never hit the right trail to Tičarica and every time fight with brushwood - well, this fight has its charm too

Beautiful spots. Plazjanski vršac, just a stone's throw from Čisti vrh, stands lonely and rarely gets a visit...
